Full-Time | Exempt | Reports to Board of Directors

Compensation: $100,000 to $150,000 per year, depending on experience. St. Mary's offers a comprehensive benefit package and PTO (paid time off) for eligible employees. The benefit package includes Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, and options to participate in additional benefit programs. In addition, eligible employees have the option to participate in a retirement plan.

About St. Mary's High School

Located in Colorado Springs, St. Mary's High School is a Catholic, college-preparatory high school serving approximately 150 students. Rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition and committed to the integration of faith and reason, St. Mary's forms students to be responsible, moral, critical thinkers and leaders prepared for college and life.

With a dedicated faculty and strong community culture, the school offers rigorous academics, competitive athletics, fine arts, and leadership opportunities. St. Mary's operates under a Strategic Alliance Agreement with the Diocese and maintains accreditation through NESBEC. The school is currently advancing the Memorare Campaign, a capital initiative to construct a new academic building on its existing athletic campus, strengthening Catholic education in Colorado Springs for generations to come.

Position Overview

St. Mary's High School seeks a mission-driven, visionary leader to serve as its next Head of School. This individual will serve in the dual capacity of President and Principal, providing executive leadership, spiritual formation, academic oversight, and operational management.

The Head of School will steward the Catholic mission, strengthen enrollment, advance fundraising efforts, oversee daily academic and operational functions, and guide the school through strategic growth-including capital expansion. The role requires a leader who can inspire confidence, build strong partnerships, and ensure long‑term institutional vitality.

Key Responsibilities Mission & Catholic Identity
  • Serve as a practicing Catholic in good standing and visible witness to the faith.
  • Advance the school's Catholic mission in alignment with diocesan expectations.
  • Foster a Christ‑centered culture integrating faith across all aspects of school life.
  • Ensure alignment with National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Schools.
Strategic & Executive Leadership
  • Lead and implement the school's strategic vision.
  • Serve as chief executive officer accountable to the Board of Directors.
  • Guide institutional growth, sustainability, and long‑term planning.
  • Maintain a strong and collaborative relationship with the Diocese.
Academic Leadership
  • Oversee curriculum, instruction, assessment, and faculty development.
  • Ensure academic rigor consistent with college‑preparatory standards.
  • Supervise and evaluate faculty and staff.
  • Maintain compliance with accreditation standards (NESBEC/WCEA).
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive enrollment management strategy.
  • Strengthen partnerships with parishes, feeder schools, and community organizations.
  • Lead fundraising initiatives, including annual giving and capital campaign efforts.
  • Cultivate relationships with alumni, donors, and community partners.
  • Oversee budget development and financial sustainability.
  • Ensure sound fiscal management and internal controls.
  • Supervise campus operations, facilities, and risk management.
  • Partner with the Board on policy implementation and governance best practices.
Community Engagement
  • Serve as the school's primary ambassador.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, faculty, alumni, and benefactors.
  • Promote the school's accomplishments and Catholic identity in the broader community.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Nonprofit Administration, Education, or related field.
  • Executive or senior operational leadership experience in a middle or high school setting.
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with deep knowledge of Church teaching.
Preferred
  • Experience in Catholic school leadership.
  • Demonstrated success in enrollment growth and fundraising.
  • Graduate degree in education, educational leadership, business, or related field.
