Academy District 20 EAC (Education and Administration Center), Colorado Springs, CO
* Serves as a resource for Talented and Gifted (TAG) teachers, administrators, departments and families in the areas of gifted student needs, gifted student identification, acceleration, enrichment, early access, and development of Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs), etc.
* Facilitates TAG parent engagement events and provides support and guidance for TAG family involvement activities
* Provides support in the assessment of TAG students or students who might qualify for TAG
* Assists teachers and administrators in data analysis of state screening and annual assessment results for TAG students or students who might qualify for TAG
* Provides guidance and expertise on current best-practices and research in the education of TAG students
* Demonstrates mastery of and pedagogical expertise in gifted and talented education
* Follows district and state policy statements, guidelines, and legal requirements related to gifted and talented education
* Provides and/or facilitates professional learning for TAG teachers, staff, administrators, and families
* Collaborates as an active member of Special Populations, supporting initiatives, contributing to planning efforts, and engaging in cross‑team work to advance goals
* Supports specified district enrichment activities that enhance student opportunities
* Reports consistently for work as scheduled
* Performs other duties as assigned
* Attains proficient or higher evaluations on established Performance Standards
* Advocates for schools/departments and students by partnering with students, families, and communities as appropriate
* Analyzes student learning, development, and growth; applies what they learn to improve their practice
* Assesses the progress of students on a regular basis and provides reports as required
* Complies with applicable state and federal laws, district administrative policies, procedures, and practices, and location requirements
* Contributes knowledge and skills to educational practices and the teaching profession
* Creates processes which maximize instructional, collaborative, and preparation time
* Demonstrates a commitment to a diverse population of students and/or appropriate staff by creating an inclusive and positive school culture and provides instruction in meeting the needs of diverse students and/or appropriate staff, talents, experiences, and challenges in support of student achievement
* Demonstrates a rich knowledge of effective instructional practices, as identified by research on best practices, in order to support and guide students and/or appropriate staff in data-based decision making regarding effective practices to maximize student success
* Demonstrates high ethical standards
* Demonstrates leadership in schools and the district
* Ensures that a plan is in place that supports improved academic achievement and developmental/ behavioral outcomes for all students and/or appropriate staff, and provides data-based progress monitoring
* Ensures that students are supervised at all times
* Follows established policies and procedures regarding the health, safety, welfare, and education of students
* Fosters a school culture that encourages continual improvement through reliance on research, innovation, risk-taking, high expectations for all students and/or appropriate staff, and a valid assessment of outcomes
* Holds all staff accountable for setting and achieving rigorous performance goals for all students and/or appropriate staff and empowers staff to achieve these goals across content areas
* Implements by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
* Instructs, assesses, and differentiates for all students' academic, social, emotional, and health needs
* Links professional growth to their professional goals
* Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and district policy
* Makes provision for availability to students and parents for education-related purposes when required or requested
* Manages materials and supplies
* Models appropriate conduct at all times
* Performs duties as directed by supervisors and administrators
* Performs non-instructional duties as directed
* Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for educational support staff and volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with supervisor, evaluates their job performance
* Proactively and efficiently manages the complexity of human interactions and relationships, including those among and between students and/or appropriate staff
* Promotes district-wide efforts to establish, implement, and refine appropriate expectations for processes, practices, and assessments; uses data-based research and evidence-based practices that result in student achievement
* Promotes the growth and skill development of every district and building staff member
