Position Summary

This position provides instructional support to students under the direction of a certified teacher, working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and promote skill development. The role supports diverse student needs by implementing instructional strategies, monitoring and documenting progress and behavior, and maintaining accurate classroom records.

The position contributes to effective classroom operations by preparing instructional materials, assisting with assessments and attendance, and completing clerical and organizational tasks. It helps create a positive, structured learning environment by reinforcing expectations, supporting student engagement and independence, and supervising students across a variety of settings, including classrooms, playgrounds, lunchrooms, and school activities.

This role requires strong collaboration, organization, and communication skills, as well as the ability to support both instructional and operational needs throughout the school day.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide instructional support to students under the direction of a certified teacher, working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and promote skill development.
  • Implement instructional strategies and classroom supports to meet diverse student learning needs.
  • Monitor, document, and report student progress and behavior; assist in maintaining required records and classroom data.
  • Support classroom operations by preparing instructional materials, assisting with assessments, recording attendance, and completing required paperwork.
  • Assist students with classroom activities and daily routines to support engagement, independence, and successful participation.
  • Promote a positive, structured learning environment by reinforcing school rules and appropriate student behavior across settings.
  • Supervise students in various environments, including the classroom, playground, lunchroom, field trips, and other school activities.
  • Perform clerical and organizational tasks, including data entry, filing, copying, laminating, inventory management, and ordering supplies.
  • Assist with classroom logistics and events, such as transitions, drills, and special activities.
  • Utilize standard office and classroom technology to support instructional and operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
