The Department of Organismal Biology & Ecology at Colorado College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Organismal Biology & Ecology with specialization in animal biology and ecology, to begin in Fall 2027. Responsibilities for this Organismal Biology and Ecology department position entail teaching six courses annually, including introductory biology of animals, ecology, upper-level courses utilizing quantitative and/or field research methods, a non-major course in the candidate’s area of specialty, and a mentored student research course.
Faculty are also expected to maintain an active research program which includes directing undergraduate student research and contributing to service at Colorado College and within the profession. We seek an individual with demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and research, which includes fostering inclusive learning environments where all students can thrive.
Colorado College is a nationally recognized, residential liberal arts and sciences college enrolling approximately 2,000 students from across the US and around the world. The College, located on a 99-acre campus in Colorado Springs, is distinguished by its immersive learning and pedagogy made possible by the Block Plan, in which professors teach, and students take, one course at a time. Each block is three and a half weeks long, allowing for unique teaching and learning strategies.
Professors have a six-block teaching duty in the eight-block year, where one of the six blocks may be assigned to supervising senior and independent projects where the work is spread across the year rather than completed in a conventional block.

Minimum QualificationsA completed Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology or integrative biology or related field and expertise in animal biology and ecology is required at time of application.
Preferred QualificationsUndergraduate teaching experience, mentoring undergraduate research experience, and a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism in biology are also priorities.
