About the Psychology Department

The Psychology Department at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs is committed to providing psychology related education,research, and outreach that address the needs of the people of Colorado, the nation, and the world. The department offers undergraduate instruction in the methodology and core knowledge of academic psychology and prepares graduate students in the general principles and concepts of psychology, with specialized training in clinical psychology.

Job Description

The College of Letters, Arts, and Science (LAS) at the Universityof Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain apool of Lecturers in Psychology from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure track positions will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester. The position is responsible for teaching various courses for Psychology; however, exact courses taught will depend on need at the time of hire.

The courses may be in person,online or hybrid.

Salary/Pay Range:

$1,300 per credit hour. Compensation willbe commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions ofthe Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Work Location:

Determined by course modality: in-person,online, or hybrid. Remote teaching opportunities may be available under certain conditions.

  • Because this appointment is temporary in nature, you will not be eligible to receive all of the benefits normally provided tofaculty under the standard University of Colorado benefits programs.
  • You are not eligible to receive paid vacation leave,medical, or retirement benefits.
  • However, you are eligible toaccrue sick leave at 0.034 hours of sick leave per hour worked.
Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but arenot limited to:

  • Teach assigned psychology courses in the approved modality and schedule
  • Develop and maintain course syllabi consistent with departmental and university standards
  • Utilize Canvas for course content, assignments, communication,and grading
  • Ensure instructional materials meet accessibility and university guidelines
  • Assess student performance and submit grades by established deadlines
  • Communicate student concerns or issues to the appropriate program director or department chair
  • Complete required trainings as determined by the department,college, or university
Qualifications :

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time ofhire.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a master's degree or PhD or PsyD in Psychology and possess an area of specialization appropriate to thecourse(s) being taught. Examples of recognized areas of specialization include, but are not limited to:
Clinical Psychology, Trauma Psychology, Geropsychology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Behavioral Psychology, Health Psychology, Neuropsychology, and Personality Psychology.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Licensed Psychologist for clinical courses.
  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate levels.
