Position Summary

Teachers also serve as reflective practitioners who continuously seek to improve through professional learning and feedback.

The School Embedded Coach supports the continuous improvement of teaching and learning by providing job-embedded coaching, professional learning, and data-informed guidance to teachers and instructional teams. This role collaborates with educators to strengthen instructional practices across content areas through coaching cycles, classroom observation, feedback, and reflective practice. The Instructional Coach designs and facilitates professional learning aligned to student performance data, school improvement goals, and district instructional priorities, and supports the development of standards-aligned curriculum, lesson planning, and effective instructional strategies.

The position works closely with school leadership and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to analyze student data, promote formative assessment practices, and build staff capacity in Tier 1 instruction, differentiation, and targeted interventions within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. The Instructional Coach serves as a liaison between the school and district academic teams to ensure alignment of initiatives, coordinate professional learning, and support implementation of district instructional priorities.

Through collaboration, modeling, and ongoing professional growth, this role fosters a culture of continuous improvement focused on high-quality instruction and improved student outcomes.

Essential Job Functions

Provide Instructional Leadership

  • Support educators and staff in implementing effective, evidence-based instructional practices.
  • Facilitate professional learning communities, coaching sessions, or mentoring programs to build teacher capacity and improve student outcomes.

Coordinate and Support School and District Initiatives

  • Assist with the development and implementation of school-wide or district-wide programs focused on instruction, curriculum, technology integration, equity, or student behavior.
  • Coordinate intervention systems and restorative or behavioral supports to enhance student engagement and academic achievement.

Use Data to Inform Decision-Making

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret student, classroom, and school data to guide instructional strategies, interventions, and program development.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives and provide recommendations for improvement.

Model Best Practices

  • Demonstrate exemplary instructional and leadership practices for educators, staff, and students.
  • Share innovative strategies and resources to promote high-quality teaching and learning.

Foster Collaboration and Communication

  • Build strong working relationships with teachers, administrators, staff, and families to support student learning and school improvement.
