The Gateway Program Seminar (GPS) is an academic program designed to help first-year students successfully adjust to university life.

GPS serves as the foundation for the Compass Curriculum, thecampus-wide general education program ough GPS,students are exposed to interdisciplinary curriculum taught by experienced faculty from across campus to establish meaningful connections, cultivate an inclusive community, and create a senseof belonging from their first year at UCCS and beyond

The Gateway Program Seminar is comprised of interdiciplinaryeducators with expertise across diverse learning contexts and populations. The GPS program at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain a pool of Lecturers fromwhich future appointments to temporary, non-tenure track positions will be made. Appointments for positions are part-time (less than
50% time) and range from one week to full semester long and will bemade on a term by term basis.

Applicants must be enthusiastic about teaching first-year students and demonstrate an understanding of the college experience in accordance with program curriculum and outcomes. Topics range fromdiscipline specific, theme related, and hobbies based courses andare taught in a variety of platforms including, online, hybrid,in-person format. Most classes utilize a co-teaching model with an assigned student peer leader.
