Job DescriptionAs a Defect Process Engineer with Microchip Technology, you will sustain and develop improvements in processing on a wide portfolio of existing product lines in our high volume 150mm wafer facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We are looking to hire a talented, highly motivated engineer to be part of our team. You will be responsible for challenging work in areas including:
- Provide Process Engineering ownership for all defect inspection and review tools.
- Monitor baseline defectivity levels to include creating experiments and continuous improvement plans (CIPs).
- Coordinate the Defect Process Enhancement Specialist activities with Manufacturing supervisors.
- Maintain Defect reduction program by selecting appropriate products, inspection locations, and toolsets.
- Monitor all defect Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts and disposition non-conforming material. Notify appropriate EES and Process Engineers of potential issues.
- Utilizes defect sourcing and partitioning to support root cause analysis.
- Provide quality input for cleanroom protocols and consumable items.
- Review inspection results from backend test facilities and provide feedback to Fab personnel.
- Represents the defect group, by presenting defect summaries and supporting customer audits.

Requirements/QualificationsEducation:
- Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Physics, Electronic-Engineering or related engineering discipline required.
- Masters degree in Chemistry, Physics, Electronic-Engineering, or a related engineering discipline preferred.
Required Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Power Point, and Word.
- Be able to communicate clearly in English speech, writing, data and report presentation, e-mail communications and meetings.
- Demonstrate proficiency with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics.
- Apply mathematical concepts, including fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, and analytical methods, to practical situations.
- Utilize advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and algebraic principles.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
- Define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions using strong analytical skills.
- Lead problem-solving and quality improvement initiatives.
- Read, interpret, and analyze scientific and technical journals and procedures.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills
- Demonstrate proficiency with advanced mathematical concepts such as plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, calculus, matrices, solid-state, and device physics.
- Apply mathematical operations to statistical tasks such as frequency distribution, test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques.
- Ability to apply active listening, effective communication, and constructive feedback to support and develop junior engineers and technicians.
