Omitron is seeking a Conjunction Assessment Analyst to support NASA’s Conjunction Assessment and Risk Analysis (CARA) team in a hybrid capacity, with on‑site support at our Colorado Springs, Colorado office. The CARA analyst team collaborates across engineering, operations, and industry partners to advance conjunction assessment methodologies in support of NASA’s risk mitigation mission. The selected candidate will perform advanced technical research, contribute to the operational implementation of new concepts, and support the prediction and anticipation of future conjunction assessment needs.
This role blends applied research, operational integration, and technical leadership within a highly collaborative environment.
- Perform advanced conjunction assessment analyses in support of NASA mission risk mitigation efforts
- Conduct research in orbit determination, orbital mechanics, covariance analysis, collision avoidance, statistics, or related disciplines
- Apply mathematical and statistical techniques to analyze spaceflight safety and risk scenarios
- Develop and implement new analytical concepts into operational workflows
- Collaborate with engineers, operators, and industry partners to anticipate future conjunction assessment needs
- Publish research findings and contribute to technical papers, presentations, and knowledge‑sharing initiatives
- Deliver clear and professional technical briefings to stakeholders and leadership

- Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Astrodynamics, Mathematics, Physics, or related technical discipline
- Experience:
- 4–6 years of relevant professional experience
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: orbit determination, orbital mechanics, covariance analysis, collision avoidance, statistics, applied mathematics, applied physics, or related technical field
- Experience with mathematical computing tools such as MATLAB or Python
- Strong presentation and technical communication skills
- Certifications: None required
- Education: Master’s or PhD in Astrodynamics, Mathematics, Physics, or related technical field
- Experience:
- Previously published research related to conjunction assessment or related disciplines
- Strong research and analytical methodology development experience
- Experience transitioning research concepts into operational environments
- Certifications: None required
The salary range for this role is $100,000 to $125,000
, depending on relevant experience, location, and other factors.
