Job Summary:Our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Manufacturing Engineer will be primarily responsible for supporting the SMT back‑end process of the line. This individual will be responsible for successfully maintaining and continuously improving the SMT manufacturing equipment, processes, and systems used in these areas as well as completion of engineering reports and studies for application notes with the products manufactured. The position requires a proven engineer with solid manufacturing and PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) experience, who can demonstrate the ability to collaborate in a pro‑active, hands‑on manner across the organization locally and across the company to improve our products’ quality and manufacturability.
Responsibilities:Develop and implement advanced processes and SMT methodologies including new hardware initial set‑up and testing and installation and qualification of new equipment. (10%).
Support assembly of SMT PCB’s and test boards with knowledge of soldering (IPC‑610/620, JEDEC standards) and pick & place tooling required for board builds that needed to support the NPI REL testing and ORT (20%).
Troubleshoot production (process, material and equipment) related issues, lead, coordinate and implement improvements and corrective actions. Including the development or improvement of manufacturing operation sequence and tooling designs (20%).
Assist cross functional team (Product, design, package, test, QA, assembly) with new product introductions (NPI), processes, and testing (20%).
Conduct engineering tests for SMT and complete detailed reports summarizing experimental testing results (5%).
Mentor technicians and operators on all aspects of the process (5%).
Manage and coordinate with vendors to ensure expected outcomes in terms of schedule and resolutions (5%).
Developing, documenting, and implementing manufacturability and quality assurance processes (5%).
Perform other technical work related to your job duties as assigned (10%).
1‑5 years experience in Surface Mount Technology equipment and processes
Expertise in Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), especially with DEK printers, Panasonic PnP (Pick and Place), reflow ovens, shear, AOI or equivalent tools
Knowledge of Quality and Industrial Engineering tools / processes (PFMEA, control plans, error proofing processes/fixtures, MSA, SPC, Ppk/Cpk analysis, Line Balancing / layout, tact times, etc.) to improve manufacturing efficiency
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Proven ability to solve and generate innovative solutions independently
Ability to demonstrate an analytical and logical thought process to solve problems
Skilled in effective project implementation, can plan, organize, and direct tasks
Ability to maintain a safe working environment
Possess effective communication skills, both verbal and written, and presentation skills
Associate degree in a related field (i.e. Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials Engineering) or the equivalent of related work experience
Qualifications:
Experience on tape and reel or any test equipment
SPC knowledge/experience and application both in a manufacturing environment and with designed experiments
Experience with NCMR/MRB activities to include collaboration with the Quality group to facilitate failure mode root cause analysis and determine corrective action
Bachelor's degree in a related field (i.e. Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials Engineering)

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $60,000 - $82,000 a year. There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base salary, including but not limited to: job‑related qualifications, skills, education and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee’s total compensation package.
