Salary Range: $91,870 - $142,022 yearly. Open Date: 2/12/2026. Close Date: 2/27/2026.

Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, CO. Eligibility: US Citizens. The position is reserved for US citizens and a full‑time role.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a professional computer scientist with project management, execution, and operational responsibility in assigned area(s). Considered the technical expert for the organization in computer science assignments concerning Scientist and Engineer; employee provides technical leadership and management to ensure project/program success. Work encompasses several phases of the development process in which the employee guides and evaluates the design and development activities of others.
The Space Systems sustainment flight. This section is a geographically separated unit (GSU) located at Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, CO. Provides engineering sustainment for MILSATCOM Protected Software Sustainment Projects to include Air Force Command Post Terminal, Time Distribution Subsystem Preprocessor and Milstar Message Applications. The team also provides program office support to include requirements management and testing for the Global Positioning System and Command and Control System‑Consolidated SMC workloads;
and performing workload transition tasks for future 517th software space systems sustainment.

- Obtain & maintain the appropriate Security clearance
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours
- This position has been designated as a Non‑Critical Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP)
- A Computer Science degree at the bachelor’s level from an institution with an ABET accredited program or a closely related field is highly desired
