Position: Aircraft Mechanic AM-2 / NDI- Level 2 (AH-64, UH-60, CH-47) FT. with Security Clearance
The Aircraft Mechanic (UH-60, AH-64, CH-47) AM-2 / Non-Destructive Inspector (NDI
- Level
2) Oversees and performs maintenance on helicopters, excluding repair of systems according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures. Inspects aerospace weapon systems components and support equipment for structural integrity using nondestructive inspection methods and performs fluid analysis.
* Oversee removal and installation aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.
* Oversee preparation of aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks.
* Oversee and performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections.
* Oversee and performs limited maintenance operational checks and assists in diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft subsystems using special tools and equipment as required.
* Oversee and use of and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment.
* Oversee preparation of forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.
* Oversee maintaining the supplies and perform preventive maintenance.
* Adheres to company policies and safety programs (Safety-first mentality)
* Process parts and perform equipment standardization and carry out any necessary preparation of parts before or after inspection.
* Follow written instructions in the techniques/methods for which certified.
* Receive guidance or supervision from a Level III in that method when necessary.
* Set up and standardize equipment, conduct tests, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document.
* Familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique/method in which they are certified.
* Provide the necessary guidance and supervision to trainers and Level I personnel in the technique/method in which they are certified.
* The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
* Familiar with the codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the method as utilized by the employer.
* Develop written instructions form approved general procedures.
* Determine test method and prepare fluids and parts for nondestructive inspection.
* Interpret nondestructive inspection test results and provide information about defects to repair center.
* Analyze wear metal content reports on engine lubricating oil and other fluids and recommend corrective action.
* Establish radiation areas for radiographic operations.
* Computer and monitor personal exposure areas for radiographic operations, and monitors personnel exposure data.
* Perform nondestructive inspection on structures, components, and systems.
* Detect flaws such as cracks, delamination, voids, processing defects, and heat damage using penetrant, eddy current, magnetic particles, radiographic, optical, and ultrasonic test equipment.
* Determine metallurgical information of components according to alloy, temper, conductivity, and associated factors.
* Operate, maintain, and inspect nondestructive equipment.
* Perform operator maintenance and service inspections on shop equipment and tools.
* Ensure lock out and tag out procedures are accomplished prior to maintenance on equipment.
* Handle and dispose of hazardous waste and materials.
* Performs additional duties, including maintenance duties, as requested.

Minimum Requirements:

* High School Diploma or GED equivalent is Required.
* U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired; certification of education level is required.
* A valid (FAA) A&P certificate is preferred, not required (optional ).
* Three (3) years aviation maintenance experience, three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two (2) years on the assigned (AH-64, UH-60, CH-47) Mission Design Series (MDS).
* A minimum of Three (3) years as an aviation inspector is preferred.
* All experience must be within the Six (6) most recent years.
* Completion of an initial Non-Destructive Inspection Level II training course and current basic qualifications.
* Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by aircraft mechanic.
* Must be trained and qualified per "NAS 410 or ASNT-CP-189" to the NDI level assigned (NDI-2). **(Required NDI principles, Fluorescent Penetrant, Magnetic particle, Ultrasound, and Eddy current)
* Must possess the level of experience to inspect and determine the serviceability of aviation components, aeronautical components. Previous experience in the maintenance, modification, and repair of tactical aircraft systems (AH-64, UH-60) being serviced and their associated components is strongly preferred.
* A valid Driver's License is required.
