Job Summary

We are seeking a Digital Systems Engineer (MBSE) to join our team in a contingent capacity to support enterprise-level digital engineering efforts for space architecture programs. This position will contribute to the development of comprehensive system models, requirements traceability frameworks, and model-based workflows for proliferated space systems. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in systems modeling, requirements management, and digital engineering methodologies applied to complex defense programs.

This role will be key in helping our customers transition from traditional systems engineering to model-based approaches.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze system models using MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, Magic Draw, CAD)
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into system models, ensuring traceability from high-level requirements to design and implementation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software, hardware, integration) to ensure system-level consistency and alignment
  • Define and document interfaces, system behavior, and architectural views using SysML
  • Support configuration management, change management, and impact analysis workflows
  • Develop model-based test cases and support Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM) framework development
  • Contribute to the integration of descriptive models with analytical tools to support trade studies and performance monitoring
  • Collaborate with government customers and stakeholders to refine modeling approaches and validate technical outputs
  • Contribute to the development and application of digital engineering standards, methodologies, and toolsets
  • Support team coordination activities, including technical reviews, milestone deliverables, and progress reporting
Qualifications
  • Education:

Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field preferred; a combination of education and related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience:

5+ years of experience in systems engineering, with at least 2 years in model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
  • Clearance Requirement:
    Top Secret with SCI eligibility
  • Proficiency in MBSE tools such as Cameo, Magic Draw, or Rhapsody
  • Experience using SysML Version 1 and an understanding of Version 2 to develop system architecture, perform functional decomposition, and support MBSE practices
  • Understanding of SysML and system lifecycle processes (requirements, architecture, design, verification)
  • Experience working in an Agile or iterative development environment
  • Experience with requirements management and traceability
  • Experience supporting DoD, aerospace, or defense programs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Preferred: 8+ years of systems engineering experience, including at least 2 years in MBSE
  • Expert experience using SysML Version 1 and strong understanding of Version 2 to develop system architecture
  • Experience with space systems, satellite architectures, or Low Earth Orbit constellations, including ground system development in support of space systems
  • Knowledge of configuration control and change management processes in digital engineering contexts
  • Understanding of Department of Defense acquisition processes and systems engineering standards
  • Familiarity with DoDAF, MODAF, or UPDM modeling frameworks
  • Knowledge of scripting or automation within modeling tools (JavaScript, MATLAB, Python)
  • Experience integrating MBSE models with other digital engineering tools…
