Transportation Hydraulics EIT/Coordinator (192519)
HDR is currently searching for a Transportation Hydraulics EIT/Coordinator in our Transportation Business Group. The primary duties include working in a team with other project engineers on stormwater master plans, floodplain modeling, and the design of urban and rural roadway, highway and transit projects.
Primary Responsibilities- Work under the direction of multiple project engineers to apply design, engineering and modeling techniques in transportation and water resource projects for local municipalities, state and federal clients.
- Work independently on small projects or assist more senior engineers on larger projects.
- Conduct site studies, site designs, contract documentation preparation and graphic presentation.
- Prepare civil design drawings with BIM/CADD platforms for construction documents.
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic evaluations and calculations.
- Prepare drainage maps and stormwater management facility design calculations and modeling.
- Prepare construction/contract plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Perform flooding complaint investigations.
- Assist with writing reports and technical memos.
- Support drainage design permitting, water quality assessments, floodplain impacts and compensation calculations.
- Perform bridge hydraulics and scour evaluations and calculations.
- Prepare cost opinions and write technical documents.
- Support construction phase implementation of infrastructure.
- Candidates without an EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
- Ability to use MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Adaptable to conditions including fast-paced and deadline-driven work environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated to complete tasks and learn new skills.
- Ability to work in the office to allow for collaboration.
- Applicable experience performing drainage design for highway/roadway projects, preparing plans and specifications, and permitting experience.
- Applicable experience performing surface water hydraulics design for channel or bridge hydraulics.
- Proficient with Micro Station and/or AutoCAD, familiarity and demonstrated experience with Highways and Roads engineering software such as Bentley Concept Station and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3D.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field.
