Position: Systems Engineer Associate (Secret Clearance)

Description

We’re dedicated to engineering, developing, and integrating new capabilities for the Missile Defense System that protects the United States and its allies. While we are part of a large organization, we operate within smaller, agile teams in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Our responsibilities include Sensor/Weapon Integration, Algorithm Development, User Interface Development, Automated Testing, Cyber Security, and enhancing critical missile defense technologies.

Work

This position will perform some or all of the following duties, concentrating on early‑phase (concept, requirements, and design) activities of the Systems‑Engineering Development Lifecycle.

Lead the development of new system concepts by transforming stakeholder needs, acquired through documentation and solicitation, into easily reviewable technical approaches.

Perform requirements elicitation and decomposition using behavioral artifacts such as use cases, activity diagrams, and sequence diagrams to convey understanding of the required behaviors and performance of the system under development.

Lead the development of physical and logical system models capturing the system under development utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches and tools.

Lead system interface development, as captured in Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Descriptions (IDDs), by converting system and interface requirements into message‑level details sufficient to coordinate interface development.

Support formal and informal engineering technical reviews.

Create, review and critique interface documents, system requirements, verification documentation, architectural documentation, and engineering estimates.

Interface with key stakeholders, including the MDA customer and working‑level counterparts, as‑required.

Participate in Agile development planning and execution, including iteration planning and status reporting.

Note:

This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration. The role will involve approximately 10% travel to customer sites throughout the U.S.

Basic Qualifications

An interim secret clearance is required for consideration.
Knowledge of Systems Engineering process.
Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using tools such as Cameo, Magic Draw, etc.

Desired Skills

Knowledge of ballistic and advanced threat systems (e.g., aero‑maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper‑glide, countermeasures, etc.).
Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground‑based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Glide Phase Intercept (GPI), Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS), Fire Control, C2

BMC, MDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, etc.).
Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems.

Onsite Full‑time:
The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work schedule:

4‑x‑10 hour day, 3 days off per week.
