Mission Architect – Level 3 or Level 4 (Colorado Springs, CO)

You’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

The Systems Engineering role will act as a mission operations liaison for the Geosynchronous Space Situational Awareness Program (GSSAP). You will work closely with the mission operations team and the factory engineering team to ensure successful program execution. You will support and coordinate with system integration efforts to validate that system updates and enhancements are fully integrated and tested for the operational environment.

You will travel to and work closely with spacecraft and ground factory teams during development, integration and test activities.

You will collaborate with a geographically distributed and cross‑discipline team and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. You must be able to work with a diverse community of customers, end users, engineers, developers and managers to achieve the goals of the program team.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off. It will primarily work from a customer facility and requires regular CONUS travel to various NG and other locations (up to 25%).

  • Preparing/presenting SE material at major reviews, PMRs and interfacing with the customer and SETAs on mission and operational technical issues

Basic Qualifications for Level 3
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of professional experience.
  • Requires an active Top‑Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at time of application.
  • Space systems engineering experience, including requirements analysis, interface development, testing and integration.
Basic Qualifications for Level 4
  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 4 years of professional experience.
  • Requires an active Top‑Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at time of application.
  • Space systems engineering experience, including requirements analysis, interface development, testing and integration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Space mission operations experience.
  • Experience coordinating closely with customers and end‑users.
  • Experience working with a cross‑discipline team.
  • Spacecraft simulator and/or training experience.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long‑Term Incentives.
