What We’re Doing

The Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2

BMC) team at Lockheed Martin engineers, develops, and integrates new capabilities for the Missile Defense System. We operate in small, agile teams and focus on sensor/weapon integration, algorithm development, user interface development, automated testing, cyber security, and enhancing critical missile defense technologies.

This role concentrates on early‑phase (concept, requirements, and design) activities of the Systems‑Engineering Development Lifecycle. It includes:

• Supporting the design and development of hardware, network, and product selection.
• Assisting procurements and the hardware approval process for the C2
  
  BMC program.
• Collaborating with the HW Architect, BOM manager, Architecture Review Board (ARB), Hardware Site Engineering Control Board (HSECB), and other functional engineering staff.
• Compiling, maintaining, and coordinating Bill of Material (BOM) changes with Task Order Management and Customer Representatives.
• Supporting the delivery of multiple CDRLs related to hardware and software reports and current design details.
• Preparing BOM for proposal pricing and ongoing hardware and software evaluation to support EOS/EOL and evolution roadmap planning.

Success Criteria

• Proven track record applying hardware architecture principles to system design and development.
• Familiarity with hardware, operating systems, infrastructure, and private on‑prem cloud design.
• Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers.
• Strong communication skills to convey desired capabilities to diverse developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users.
• Ability to liaise with the C2
  
  BMC Integrated Logistics Support Working Group (ILSWG).

• A final Secret clearance is required for consideration.
• Deep understanding of hardware and network device selection.
• Understanding of trade studies performance.
• Knowledge of Agile processes and scrum duties.
• Experience with private on‑prem cloud systems, VMware, HP, Dell, and other COTS products.
• Experience with systems architecting and architecture models.

• Technology evolution planning.
• Ability to identify and define a HW/SW baseline.
• Expertise in systems architecting, hardware design, and hardware definition.
• Experience in ballistic missile defense or air defense operations (highly desired).
• Ability to analyze high‑level physical designs and infrastructure designs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical approaches and findings clearly.
• Cooperative teamwork with internal and external program stakeholders.
• Skill at identifying disconnects between hardware hosts and COTS software hosted on the hardware.
• Familiarity with the C2
  
  BMC system and the missile defense domain.
• Familiarity with hardware maintenance and management approaches (EOS/EOL) desired.
