Hydrogeologist with 5+ years of experience. Preferred location: one of HDR’s Colorado offices, though other locations may be considered. The role supports site investigation, remediation, and other environmental projects across diverse markets. The position requires travel to the field (up to 50%) and most work will be conducted in Colorado, with occasional projects across North America.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead complex hydrogeologic investigations with a focus on fractured rock settings.
  • Assist in designing and conduct field studies; responsible for data collection, compilation, and analysis for geology and hydrology projects.
  • Conduct geologic logging of borings and monitoring well drilling; digitize boring logs and well construction diagrams into formal deliverables.
  • Complete multi‑media sampling, coordinate with laboratories, analyze data, and prepare reports.
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic testing and analysis.
  • Develop groundwater potentiometric surface and isoconcentration maps.
  • Assist with troubleshooting field issues; communicate them in a timely manner to team members and supervisors.
  • Draft technical memos and reports.
  • Assist in developing proposals and cost estimating.
  • Manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Prepare environmental permit documents for regulatory compliance.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.
  • Work independently on small projects or as part of larger teams to assist senior personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional hydrogeology experience or a closely aligned field; advanced degrees substitute one year of experience.
  • Experience conducting contaminated site investigations, including sample collection and analysis of soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment.
  • Prepared groundwater monitoring reports and evaluated laboratory data.
  • Developed quality assurance plans, sampling and analysis plans, and waste management plans (CERCLA, RCRA).
  • Performed technical evaluations and data computations for compliance and contaminant fate and transport assessments.
  • Knowledge of conceptual site models and ability to identify data gaps and inform scoping activities.
  • Supervised drilling, well installation, and pump tests in consolidated and unconsolidated formations.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) certification or GIT status with intent to pursue PG.
  • Experience with Colorado and federal regulations (CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, etc.).
  • Experience on Coal Combustion Residual projects involving monitoring, analysis, characterization, and corrective measures.
  • GIS expertise in Arc View/ArcGIS, and use of borehole digitization software (gINT, Open Ground) and hydrogeological tools (Surfer, Aqtesolv).
  • Physically able to perform demanding tasks in adverse conditions.
  • OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER and MSHA training are pluses.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Water Resources or a closely related field.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Basic proficiency with GIS, Microsoft Excel, Word, and total station (GPS) software.
  • Ability to work independently and within project teams to complete tasks.
  • Field work experience in remote areas.
  • Commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture and inclusive values.
