Position Overview
Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS), Space and Launch Division is seeking an Associate or Mid‑Level Operations Engineer to serve as a Satellite Systems Engineer supporting the team in Schriever, CO. The role involves developing and operating satellite communications systems for secure military use, supporting 10 on‑orbit Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellites and working across all engineering activities from concept to demonstration.
The position is fully onsite at Schriever SFB, CO and requires navigating a base worksite without elevators and a long walk from parking.
Responsibilities- Advise customers on satellite operation and maintenance.
- Advise customers on ground command and control system operations.
- Participate in technical meetings, author database, and software change requests.
- Perform ground computer system software and database testing.
- Author, maintain, review, and support satellite operations procedures, configure and run simulations to support procedure validation.
- Conduct technical analyses and studies, then provide recommendations.
- Perform satellite data trending and analysis to determine spacecraft performance.
- Perform problem solving and support other engineers in a team environment.
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or related discipline.
Additional Qualifications- Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI (U.S. Citizenship required). Clearance active within past 24 months considered active.
- Minimum years of related experience: 1+ for Level 2, 3+ for Level 3.
- Systems Engineering experience.
- Software quality test and validation experience.
- Willingness and ability to relocate to Schriever AFB if not already within commuting distance.
- Associate (Level
2) education and experience typically 2+ years of related work or equivalent. - Mid‑Level (Level
3) education and experience typically 5+ years of related work or equivalent.
- Top Secret Security Clearance.
- Experience responding to anomalies for on‑orbit communications satellites.
- Experience working closely with U.S. Military customers.
- Familiarity with developing software or engineering tools.
Location:
Schriever AFB, Colorado.
Shift: Ability and willingness to work occasional compensated on‑call support outside of typical business hours.
Summary Pay Range:
Level 2 – $91,800 to $124,200;
Level 3 – $112,200 to $151,800.
