The Aerospace Corporation is a federally funded research and development center focused on space programs. This role is based in Colorado Springs, CO, and requires full‑time onsite presence.
Role OverviewAs an Engineer Specialist or Senior Engineer Specialist—Communications Systems Engineering—your responsibilities include designing, developing, modeling, simulating, testing, and analyzing communication systems and subsystems for a variety of defense, civil, and commercial applications. The work covers space‑based and terrestrial communications, secure data links, and hybrid commercial/US Government (USG) satellite systems.
What You’ll Be Doing- Perform technical analyses of space‑based and terrestrial communication systems, including commercial and USG systems.
- Develop working prototypes to demonstrate capability improvements.
- Provide ongoing technical consultation and advice to management, customers, and contractors.
- Lead cross‑organizational teams and interface with USG customers and Aerospace program offices.
- Grow aerospace technical support amongst USG customers through mentorship.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, or a related engineering discipline with a strong communications background.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant technical experience.
- Excellent innovation, creativity, and initiative skills.
- Willingness to travel approximately 6% of the time to other work locations or customer sites.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance issued by the U.S. government (U.S. citizenship required).
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant technical experience.
- Proven project development and technical leadership experience.
- Master’s or Ph.D. in engineering or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of USG programs, commercial satellite systems, and USG roadmaps.
- Proficiency in Python or MATLAB.
- 12 or more years of progressively responsible engineering/scientific experience in multi‑disciplinary systems engineering or program management environments.
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
