Project Engineer, Civil Engineering

Job Summary

The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting project managers and collaborating with internal administration, support, and technical personnel, as well as external customers, to coordinate and support mechanical service and construction activities. The role ensures all aspects of projects are delivered within the established budget and time, in accordance with contract documents, plans, and specifications, to achieve Owner/Client satisfaction and the best interests of Trautman & Shreve.

• Build and maintain relationships with new and existing customers, peers, supervisors, administrative staff, field craft workers, field supervision, vendors, and subcontractors based on respect, trust, and integrity.
• Estimate, budget and control labor and material costs.
• Understand project plans, specifications and schedule, and the resources necessary to complete the project on time and within budget.
• Prepare timely, accurate and complete project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, schedule updates, time records, supplemental work orders, change order pricing, and general project correspondence.
• Conduct, document and track procurement activities and efforts, including commodity materials, consumables, necessary tools and equipment, major equipment packages, and subcontracts.
• Coordinate, schedule and support quality assurance, safety, and subcontract work.
• Perform daily tasks that may vary by project type, project requirements, and project schedule.

• 1‑3 years of related experience in the construction industry preferred.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor of Science Degree with a Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management focus, or pursuing one.
• Experience at an advanced level using Accubid, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam.
• Familiarity with local municipal jurisdictional procedures for plan reviews, permitting, applicable codes, inspections, etc.

Minimum $65,000 – maximum $75,000. Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

The job may involve lifting up to 50 pounds, exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions. Noise levels are usually minimal.
