In this high-impact role, you will drive the design, integration, and delivery of the digital infrastructure foundation enabling a secure, connected, and integrated ecosystem for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
The PDE partners closely with senior civilian and contractor stakeholders to translate complex capabilities into a Unified Digital Ecosystem—bridging hybrid cloud, enterprise networks, identity, cybersecurity, automation, and modeling and simulation (M&S). You will establish engineering governance, champion innovation, and mentor the next generation of technical leaders.
Strategic NGE Technical Leadership:
- Develop and maintain the long-term technical vision and multi-year engineering roadmaps for NGE, aligning architectural runway with MDA mission requirements.
Unified Digital Ecosystem Integration:
- Act as the primary technical integrator across hybrid cloud, enterprise networks, Zero Trust cybersecurity, Dev Sec Ops , and modeling/simulation (M&S) domains.
Digital Engineering & MBSE Governance:
- Drive the adoption of digital engineering principles, leveraging Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to establish authoritative data sources of truth and streamline capability delivery.
Stakeholder Advisory &
Collaboration:
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to senior MDA leadership and civilian stakeholders, translating highly complex infrastructure and platform engineering concepts into actionable business and mission decisions.
Engineering Standards & Guardrails:
- Define, govern, and enforce rigorous systems engineering and architectural standards, delegating execution to domain-specific engineering leads while maintaining overall technical integration.
Resource & Pipeline Optimization:
- Partner with PMO and engineering leads to forecast Work Packages (WPs), resolve technical or organizational resource conflicts, and streamline technical talent pipelines.
R&D and Dev Sec Ops Champion:
- Lead R&D initiatives to evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., Infrastructure-as-Code, API-driven architectures, observability platforms) and drive a culture of continuous Dev Sec Ops automation.
Mentorship & Career Progression:
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture by mentoring senior engineering staff, technical leads, and Control Account Managers (CAMs) to cultivate future mission leaders.
Basic Requirements:
- Must have 12, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
- Must have 10, or more, years of progressive experience in engineering or IT
- Must have 3, or more, years in a senior strategic or architectural leadership role
