Odyssey is recruiting for a Requirements Engineer SME to join the team. The technical expert filling this position will be a trusted advisor and consultant to the government that supports government-led ongoing and future sustainment, modification, and capability upgrade efforts across the NORAD Cheyenne Mountain Complex - Integrated Tactical Warning / Attack Assessment (NCMC-ITW/AA) and Legacy Space C2 systems. The NCMC-ITW/AA Branch sustains unique ITW/AA Cheyenne Mountain systems, networks, and associated components through an enterprise-wide set of integrated mission capabilities, support services, and data products that provide military authorities with an accurate, timely, unambiguous and continuous warning and attack assessment of air, missile and space threats.

The Legacy Space C2 Branch sustains unique space command & control systems, networks, and associated components through an enterprise-wide set of integrated mission capabilities, support services, and data products that provide space situational awareness, object tracking, and deconfliction. This is a full-time position at Peterson SFB in Colorado Springs, CO with hybrid flexibility - subject to change per the government's discretion.

Responsibilities duties include, but not limited to:

  • Collaborate with Systems Program Office leadership and USSF stakeholders to define, update, and sustain requirements for NCMC-ITW/AA, CCIC2S, and Legacy Space C2 acquisition programs.
  • Analyze war fighting plans, CONOPs, and operational concepts to author high-level JCIDS, AFROC, and JROC requirements documentation for future capabilities.
  • Review and assess technical baseline artifacts (design descriptions, interface controls, test plans, and FCA/PCAs) to ensure alignment with operational mandates.
  • Deliver technical and acquisition assessments to develop capability roadmaps, supporting POM planning, execution, and transition to operational stand-up.
  • Conduct technical reviews and project management oversight of prime contractor execution, tasks, and engineering recommendations to ensure contractual compliance.
  • Author high-quality technical briefings, Point Papers, position papers, and staff packages (including RFIs and Taskers) for senior Government decision-makers.
  • Lead cross-functional planning sessions across engineering, finance, contracting, and logistics, presenting status briefs at Program Management Reviews.
  • Identify, evaluate, and document programmatic and technical risks related to system requirements, proposing actionable mitigation strategies to Program Office leadership.
  • Serve as the authoritative technical focal point for Missile Warning requirements, providing expert guidance, peer review, and knowledge transfer to junior engineering and contractor personnel within the 85-person Program Office.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree. Years of

Experience:

12 or more years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline; to include 5 years of DoD acquisition or financial experience; OR, Master's Degree in a related field with 10 or more years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline; to include 5 years of DoD experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience directly supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) / Department of War (DoW) or USSF Acquisition Program Office (such as Space Systems Command) across the hardware or software acquisition lifecycle.
  • Progressive, hands-on experience in documenting, verifying, and validating technical requirements for Major Defense Acquisition Programs; proven ability to translate high-level joint mission needs into precise, verifiable engineering specifications.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating across the acquisition lifecycle (R&D, production, operation, sustainment) to align technical engineering designs with key operational thresholds and performance parameters (KPPs/KSAs).
  • Comprehensive experience managing major sustainment portfolios, offering senior-level insights into logistics, contract management, and engineering modification processes.
  • Direct experience supporting the Programming, Planning, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process, specifically contributing technical inputs, cost trade-offs, and capability roadmaps to Program Objective Memorandum (POM) builds.
  • Highly proficient in utilizing professional systems engineering/requirements management databases paired with a strong understanding of Technology Readiness Level (TRL) assessments and technical risk mitigation.
  • Experience applying Digital Engineering practices (Model-Based Systems Engineering/MBSE) or requirements-traceability methodologies within Agile/Dev Sec Ops  software development environments.
  • Familiarity with NORAD/USNORTHCOM, USSPACECOM, and USSF operational structures, ensuring an understanding of how technical requirements impact warfighter tactical execution.
