Fruition Group is supporting an advanced computing company in Boulder that is expanding its hardware engineering team.
We are looking for a Principal Hardware Engineer capable of owning complex electronic systems from architecture and component selection through schematic design, PCB development, bring-up and validation.
This is a senior hands‑on technical position for an engineer who is comfortable working across mixed-signal, digital, analog, power and embedded hardware rather than operating within one narrow discipline.
What You'll Be Doing- Architect and develop complex multi-PCBA electronic systems
- Own hardware designs from initial requirements through production-ready implementation
- Design mixed-signal, analog and digital circuitry
- Develop schematics and guide PCB layout
- Select processors, FPGAs, ADCs, DACs and supporting components
- Design power distribution, regulation and sequencing architectures
- Develop clocking and timing architectures
- Integrate analog and RF front‑end circuitry
- Support high‑speed digital interfaces and signal integrity requirements
- Perform component selection and engineering trade‑off analysis
- Lead board bring‑up, debugging and system integration
- Develop hardware validation and characterization strategies
- Use laboratory equipment to investigate complex electrical issues
- Collaborate closely with firmware, FPGA, software, mechanical and systems engineering teams
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across hardware programs
- Improve hardware development processes, design reviews and engineering standards
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar
- Strong schematic capture and PCB design knowledge
- Experience with ADC/DAC architectures
- FPGA and/or processor integration experience
- Power architecture, regulation and sequencing experience
- Clock generation and distribution experience
- Strong board bring‑up, debugging and laboratory skills
- Experience taking hardware through the complete development lifecycle
- Ability to operate as both a hands‑on engineer and technical leader
- FPGA-based hardware
- RF or analog front‑end electronics
- Precision analog circuitry
- Signal and power integrity
- Scientific hardware
- Aerospace, defense, semiconductor or advanced computing systems
This isn't a role focused purely on reviewing other engineers' designs.
You'll remain deeply involved in the hardware, tackling technically challenging electrical problems and influencing architecture across complex systems.
You'll work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams developing next‑generation computing technology, while having significant ownership over how the underlying hardware is designed and built.
