Position Overview

You must be a current City of Colorado Springs municipal employee who works in this department or has been in your current position for at least one year to be considered for this position.

Senior Finance Analyst

As a Senior Finance Analyst, you will perform a wide variety of complex professional, analytical, and administrative duties in support of the CSFD (Colorado Springs Fire Department).

As a Senior Finance Analyst, you will:

* Provide complex high level cost analysis for management regarding budgets, personnel, and staffing

* Represent CSFD and coordinate with key stakeholders within the City of Colorado Springs

* Develop, implement, track, and provide analysis of the Department's budget

* Navigate multiple funding sources and analyze them individually as well as collectively

* Act as coordinator for CSFD's grants

* Supervise employees responsible for tracking budgets, processing invoices, purchase orders, and managing the Department's Visa program

* Write reports and prepare business letters

* Plan, coordinate, and evaluate activities associated with contracts

* Participate in research and evaluation of proposed contracts and agreements

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate

Knowledge of:

* Principles and practices of accounting, grant funding and administration, and budget preparation

* Approaches and systems affecting the design and implementation of major programs and/or processes organization-wide

* Budgets, revenue projections, financial reporting, and tracking standards and practices

* Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations

Ability to:

* Plan, prioritize, and evaluate the work of employees

* Use the Microsoft Tool Suite with proficiency, with a particular focus on an advanced use of Excel

* Maintain accurate records and files

* Keep abreast of new trends and innovations

* Communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing

* Establish and maintain effective working relationships

* Make decisions and exercise independent judgment

Work is performed primarily in an office environment with possible travel from site to site.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in finance, business administration, public administration, or other research-intensive field

* Five (5) years of full-time responsible professional, analytical, and/or budgetary experience

* Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges

This position is subject to budget required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year, and any furloughs subsequently approved.
