Software Engineer – Credit Card​/Fraud

Improve the card transaction experience by eliminating causes of declines, failed authorizations, stuck holds, and user friction
Improve the card program as a product by identifying breakpoints, proposing fixes, and shipping them
Hunt fraud and abuse patterns including card testing, cashback farming, merchant abuse, friendly fraud, trial and force-post abuse, and multi-account rings
Own fraud rules, queues, scoring logic in Sardine, real-time monitoring, alerting, and automated mitigation
Investigate live cases by querying transaction data, identifying root causes, and proposing preventative rules or controls
Build internal tools, dashboards, and scripts for risk and CX teams
Collaborate with Product, CX, Compliance, the card program, and fraud vendors

• Strong fundamentals in software engineering and problem solving
• 4+ years of professional coding experience, shipping products
• Product sense and focus on resolving causes of declined transactions
• Comfortable querying and analyzing data
• Genuine interest in adversarial problems and identifying patterns in transaction data
• Plus if you have worked at a fintech, neobank, card issuer, or issuer processor
• Plus if you have experience on the card issuing side or with a card transaction processor
• Plus if you have knowledge of card and payment fraud mechanics, including card testing, BIN attacks, friendly fraud, merchant collusion, and cashback farming
• Plus if you have built on a fraud decisioning or transaction monitoring platform and operated it
• Plus if you have run fraud investigations or disputes yourself

Demonstrates strong software engineering fundamentals and problem-solving skills, with a focus on fraud detection and prevention in card transactions. Proficient in querying and analyzing transaction data to identify patterns and propose effective solutions.
