Job Overview

The Occupational Therapist I provide occupational therapy services including evaluation, treatment, follow up and documentation using general competencies for inpatients and/or outpatients referred to the OT department. Provides supervision for therapy aides/assistants and students with specific patients or tasks as appropriate. Provides continuous consultation and education to families. The Occupational Therapist I is an entry level position in a Career Advancement Program (CAP).

Join our dynamic team at Telstar Therapy Care in Colorado Springs! We're seeking a skilled individual to provide essential support to our Feeding and Swallowing team.

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of Occupational Therapy experience, along with expertise in assisting with feeding and swallowing challenges spanning from birth to 21 years of age. Experience in conducting feeding evaluations and treatments, including proficiency in bottle feeding, transitioning to solid foods, addressing challenges in solid food progression, and managing various feeding difficulties, is highly desirable.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy or related field of study.

Certification(s): BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR

Licensure: Colorado State Registration for Occupational Therapy - National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy;
Credentialing must be completed by the Medical Staff Office (MSO) within 3 months of employment

This position has been defined and is governed by the Children's Hospital Colorado Medical Staff bylaws, continuation of employment is contingent upon the review and approval of the Colorado Health Care Professionals Credential Application within 3 months of employment. Failure to successfully pass the credentialing process may result in the termination of your employment. Such positions include:
Advanced Practice Providers, licensed professional counselors, or Adjunct Medical Staff.

Essential Functions

  • Collaboration:

    Collaborates with the family, physicians, schools and other providers to ensure continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services.
  • Documentation:
    Completes written documentation in accordance with department standards for format, location and time frames.
  • Evaluation/Re-evaluations:
    Independently evaluates children from birth to 21 years of age, with a variety of diagnosis, in specialized programs, on inpatient and/or outpatient units. Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.
  • Financial Responsibility:
    Assists in achieving departmental financial budget targets.
  • Leadership and/or Professionalism
    - Demonstrates professional behaviors; adheres to hospital and departmental policies and promotes personal and departmental development through participation in development activities to improve the patient experience and quality goals of the department and hospital.
  • Provides consultation and education to families.
  • Treatment:
    Treat children ages birth to 21 years of age, with a variety of diagnoses, and in specialized programs on inpatient and outpatient units. Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services. Seeks out appropriate mentoring/training and consults with relative Program Coordinator and/or assigned mentor for complex patient diagnoses.
