Work Unit:
The Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention Branch (HPCDP) plans, designs, implements, and evaluates public health interventions related to chronic disease and related risk factors, with a goal of improving health‑related quality of life for all Coloradans. The Branch includes Cardiovascular, Diabetes, Alzheimer’s and other Related Dementias, Comprehensive and Colorectal Cancer Control, Healthy Eating and Active Living, Tobacco Education, Prevention and Control, the Cancer, Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Disease Grants Program, and Healthy Communities.
What You Will Be Doing:
The Cancer Systems Specialist coordinates implementation of the CDC work plans for the Colorectal Cancer Control Program (CRCCP) and the Clinic Quality Improvement (CQI) strategy of the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP). The role determines and adapts intervention design processes within established program objectives and grant requirements, develops and implements guidance for monitoring contracts, and collaborates on program evaluation.
The position analyzes clinic‑level data, policies, workflows, clinic transformation, electronic health record systems, and implementation of evidence‑based strategies to increase cancer‑screening services in health systems, including clinic‑clinic connections from primary care to colonoscopy providers. The Specialist communicates with all levels of health systems staff and technical assistance partners to develop, implement, and track CQI activities and develop partnerships and linkages with public health and state and local systems.
