SummaryOversees breast imaging patient navigation from abnormal imaging and biopsy through referral to surgery or treatment. Ensures compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and maintains required patient tracking processes.
Responsibilities- Initiates communication with patients following abnormal or suspicious breast imaging findings. Facilitates communication among patients, providers, and staff involved in care, reviews diagnostic information, and coordinates scheduling of imaging, biopsy, and referral services.
- Follows patients from initial abnormal imaging through diagnostic resolution and referral to surgical or oncology services. Manages patient tracking processes in accordance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA), documents interventions and outcomes, and maintains required records and reports.
- Identifies barriers that may delay diagnostic completion and coordinates interventions with patients, providers, and operational teams to support continuity of care and timely progression across the diagnostic continuum.
- Communicates care plans, diagnostic findings, and next steps with patients and members of the interdisciplinary care team to support informed decision-making and coordinated treatment planning.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
- Credentials: ARRT Mammography (M) or ARRT Breast Sonography or ARDMS Breast Certification.
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program or an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Preferred:
Bachelor's degree. - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Mammography (M) OR ARRT Breast Sonography (BS) OR American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Breast (BR).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
- 3 years of breast imaging experience in mammography or breast sonography. Preferred:
Experience in a comprehensive breast center. - BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
