Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist Assistant
Location: State-Wide - MUST BE A COLORADO RESIDENT
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Director of Exceptional Student Services
Work Hours/Days: Full-Time or Part-Time based on student enrollment and special education service needs. Caseload expectations will be aligned with FTE assignment in accordance with state and federal special education guidelines.
Wage: $19.50-$21.50 per hour. Compensation will be prorated based on FTE assignment.
Benefits: Benefit eligibility is based on FTE status. Employees working 30 hours or greater per week are eligible for full benefits including health, dental, vision, 401k and paid leave. Employees working less than 30 hours per week will get paid sick leave.

Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)Job Function
The Speech‑Language Pathologist Assistant supports the development of inclusive, data‑driven communication services by partnering with school leaders, SLPs, special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and families to deliver high‑quality and compliant speech‑language interventions to qualifying students. This role strengthens MTSS/RTI frameworks, trauma‑informed practices, and SEL‑aligned communication supports while ensuring culturally responsive implementation of speech‑language programming. The SLPA provides direct intervention, data collection, and instructional support to address articulation, language, fluency, social communication, and AAC needs of students with disabilities.
Through collaborative teaming, classroom carryover, and communication‑focused capacity building, the SLPA empowers educators and families to support communication growth for students across settings, including those served through 504, Gifted, and Multi‑Lingual Learner pathways. The SLPA contributes to multidisciplinary evaluation and IEP teams under SLP supervision, with some remote service delivery and consultation.
Direct Student Services
- Provide therapy activities designed by the supervising SLP.
- Support articulation, language, fluency, and social communication goals.
- Reinforce AAC use and communication strategies across settings.
Documentation & Data
- Collect and record session data with accuracy.
- Prepare materials, visuals, and AAC supports.
- Communicate student progress and concerns to the SLP.
Collaboration
- Work with teachers and paraprofessionals to generalize communication strategies.
- Support classroom-based interventions and carryover activities.
Family & Team Support
- Assist with communication to families regarding schedules and general updates.
- Support translation of SLP-designed home practice materials.
- Completion of an approved SLPA program or equivalent coursework.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in SLPA studies or a related field.
- Current Colorado SLPA registration or eligibility to obtain it.
- Knowledge of the ASHA Scope of Practice for Speech‑Language Pathology Assistants.
- State registration or certification as required.
- Experience with children or school settings preferred.
- School-based settings with movement between classrooms.
- Frequent use of materials, visuals, and AAC devices.
