Cloud Engineer

Overview

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions seeks a Cloud Engineer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Cloud engineering on various platforms. The position supports dynamic, fast-paced projects that span all phases of the Software Development/Software Test/System Engineering life cycles, including requirement review/updates, design, development, test, and customer support.

• Define, develop, design, and implement Cloud architectures on various cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and others (GCP, Alibaba and other CSPs).
• Deploy and integrate containerized software workloads using Docker and Kubernetes (K8S).
• Automate cloud infrastructure deployment using Terraform, Ansible, Cloud Formation and similar IaC structures.
• Leverage knowledge of various cloud platforms to architect, develop, and design implementations that are platform agnostic.
• Design solutions that comply with Zero Trust Architecture requirements.
• Develop cloud-native solutions that comply with industry standards of cybersecurity and operations.
• Design and implement scalable and robust cloud infrastructure capable of supporting real-world, operational missions.
• Manage security logging, monitoring, and alert triage and participate in security incident response and investigation.
• Communicate effectively with team members, customers, and subcontractor support.
• Provision, configure, administrate, automate, monitor, and support enterprise and project cloud services.
• Interface with the customer, subcontractors, and cross-functional development, design and test teams.
• Work with cybersecurity teams to architect solutions and gather solution evidence supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) for US Gov projects.
• Utilize Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) for data transfer across multiple environments.
• Travel as necessary to support system integration, testing, and customer meetings (approximately 10% annually).
• Be a strong team player and leader to the project team and the organization.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field with focus on Cloud design and system implementation across cloud environments and software integration.
• Experience with various CSPs (AWS, Azure, GCP, Alibaba).
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible design and implementation, and other IaC solutions; ability to implement a platform-agnostic solution.
• Understanding of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles.
• Hands-on experience deploying or integrating with Keycloak (or similar) for single sign-on in a Kubernetes environment.
• Hands-on experience deploying software workloads on Docker and Kubernetes via docker-compose, Helm or similar technology.
• Understanding of Dev Sec Ops  workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to articulate technical concepts orally and in written form.
• Experience providing estimates for cloud development, implementation, migration, and testing tasks.
• Experience working on US Gov programs and contributing to artifacts required for ATO and/or IATT.
• In-depth understanding of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, HTTP).
• Experience using Linux operating system.
• General IT/Cloud automation knowledge and experience.
• Ability to attain and maintain a US Gov SECRET and TOP SECRET/SCI clearance.

• RMF/Cyber experience.
• Experience with Windows, Unix and other operating systems.
• Experience with various IaC platforms.
• Ability to read/write script-level or integration code using Python, C# or other development language.
• Hands-on experience integrating with cloud-provided Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) for data transfers across environments.
• RF and SATCOM experience.
• VMware, VPN, VPC, and CDN experience.
• ZTA development and implementation experience.
• Information Systems Security Engineering Professional (ISSEP).
• Experience and knowledge of the SATCOM operational environment.
• Ground Requirements Management Systems and operations.
• AWS Solutions Architect Associate (SAA) certification.
