Work
Designs, plans, and validates secure network communications systems for the C2
BMC program. You develop detailed specifications, schematics, and capacity forecasts; select hardware/software; implement firewalls, switches, routers, and security relevant devices; and conduct rigorous testing. You apply DoW RMF/CSRMC/STIG compliance, produce required IA documentation, and harden all devices. Work is performed independently under general direction, with critical reviews at key milestones, and you influence long‑range organizational goals by collaborating with senior leadership.

- This position is based at a Lockheed Martin facility in Colorado Springs, CO. The role requires flexibility to travel to alternate work locations as needed.
As a leader of the C2
BMC team, Lockheed Martin directs a partnership of highly responsive industry leaders developing and fielding the backbone of America’s missile defense. Together, this national team supports the design, development, test, integration and fielding of hardware and software elements that enable the Missile Defense System (MDS) to function effectively and continually. You will also have the opportunity to interface with our key customers in the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
You Are
You are a technically proficient network security professional with at least three years of relevant experience (preferably more) and a post‑secondary degree or equivalent training. You combine deep knowledge of networking, OSI/TCP‑IP fundamentals, and DoW security standards to solve complex problems, communicate clearly with diverse audiences, and mentor junior engineers. You thrive in a fast‑paced environment, are willing to support night/weekend events, and can travel to alternate sites such as Schriever Space Force Base.

- Active Final Top‑Secret U.S. security clearance, with a valid passport, and ability to travel to remote sites.
- Department of War (DoW) Risk Management Framework (RMF) / Cybersecurity Risk Management Construct (CSRMC) and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) experience.
- IAT Level II 8140‑compliant certification (e.g., Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.). If you don't possess the certification, you must be able to obtain the certification within 60 days of starting.
- Network fundamentals: strong grasp of the OSI model, TCP/IP, VLANs, UDP multicast, and ACL design/function.
- Multi‑vendor device expertise: hands‑on configuration of firewalls (Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto), routers, and switches (Juniper & Cisco), plus experience with virtualization (VMware/ESXi).
- Proven experience developing cyber‑secure network device configurations and applying DoW STIG compliance and system accreditation processes.
- Ability to design security configurations, testing procedures, and documentation in accordance with NIST CVE and other security‑design methodologies.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of security design, development, and testing methodologies; capable of summarizing issues and recommending solutions to leadership.
- Proficient in scripting/automation (Python, Ansible, Power Shell) and familiar with JUNOS routing OS.
- Strong written and oral communication; adept at creating technical presentations and Visio drawings; effective collaborator within high‑performing engineering teams.
- Familiarity with virtualization hardening (VMware/ESXi STIG) and general security‑hardening concepts for a wide range of niche products, software, and applications.
This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a U.S. citizen for consideration. Clearance Level: Top Secret.
