Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for Sr Principal Systems Architect Engineer (26-161) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Located in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels. This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
EssentialFunctions
- Will participate in analyzing high‑level needs using a structured and logical approach.
- Will be responsible for designing system architecture solutions and concepts for new and emerging capabilities of the C2
BMC system in collaboration with other architects, including the lead system architect, software architects, network architect, and cyber architect. - Communicates and collaborates on system architecture solutions with teams such as software developers, network engineers, cyber engineers, Dev Sec Ops teams, infrastructure teams, test teams, and deployment teams.
- This includes both physical and logical architectures across the system.
- Will collaborate with project leads, product owners, and MDA customers.
- Will present architecture concepts to a wide range of audiences and serve as the primary point of contact for the System Architecture supporting the development, testing, and deployment efforts.
- Will participate in internal and external design reviews.
- May aid in documenting or reviewing architectures in an MBSE tool like CAMEO.
- Keeps up with current and emerging technologies and design methods in the field of DoD Command and Control and COTS/FOSS IT products.
- Solves complex problems using regular ingenuity and creativity.
- Work is performed without clear direction and is reviewed for desired results over a relatively long time frame; incorrect decisions typically lead to failure in achieving major organizational objectives.
- May serve in project leadership roles and act as the organization’s primary contact on major technical issues related to contracts.

BMC Regional Systems Engineering Manager. - Work will be carried out in a designated closed area. This role is entirely based in the office, with no remote work available.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and be able to present technical concepts to a diverse group of engineers.

- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree.
