Systems Engineer Lead

Responsibilities

We are seeking a TS/SCI cleared, highly experienced and detail‑oriented Systems Engineer Lead to join our team in CO Springs, CO and oversee the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of complex systems and IT infrastructures. In this leadership role, you will guide a team of engineers, ensuring the highest levels of performance, availability, and security. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement cutting‑edge solutions that support our US Space Force customer’s technology vision and strategic goals.

• Lead System Engineering Initiatives:
  Oversee the design and implementation of complex systems to meet organizational and operational requirements.
• Provide Technical Expertise:
  Act as the subject matter expert on systems engineering, providing guidance on infrastructure, architecture, and integration strategies.
• Define Standards:
  Set architecture and systems engineering best practices, ensuring effective deployment and maintenance.
• Collaborate with Stakeholders:
  Partner with Product Owners, Project Managers, Dev Ops Engineers, and other technical teams to develop and implement system solutions aligned with business objectives.

• Bachelor’s degree with 10‑12 years;
  Master’s with 8‑10 years or PhD with 5‑7 years in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 8+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering, network administration, or related fields.
• 3+ years of leadership or team management experience.
• Must possess and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance.

• Strong expertise in systems engineering concepts, including architecture design, system integration, and configuration management.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V).
• Familiarity with networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP/S, FTP) and related hardware (firewalls, load balancers, routers, etc.).
• Proficient in automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Power Shell, Python, Bash, or Ansible).
• Expertise in operating systems such as Linux, Windows, or Unix.
• Solid understanding of Dev Ops practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

• Ability to analyze complex technical challenges and deliver practical and innovative solutions.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve performance issues across various systems.

• Proven ability to manage and lead a team of engineers with diverse skill levels.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively in a fast‑paced environment.

• Ability to work cross‑functionally with engineers, project managers, and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

• Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Certification in Systems Engineering (e.g., INCOSE Certification, CompTIA Server+).
• Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Administrator).
• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices, including knowledge of tools like IAM, firewalls, and security monitoring.
• Experience working with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).

There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
