The Company Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2

BMC) National Team Program is looking for a Network Engineer to join the team in Colorado Springs, CO to support the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The Company Missile Defense Programs support the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) mission to develop and deploy a layered Missile Defense System to defend the United States, its deployed forces, allies, and friends from missile attacks in all phases of flight.

Position Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Ensure reliable connectivity across LAN/WAN environments and collaborate with senior engineers on network design and optimization.
  • Bring strong networking fundamentals and a hands‑on approach to supporting production environments.
  • Configure and maintain network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls from vendors such as Cisco and Juniper Networks.
  • Monitor network performance and availability, proactively identifying and resolving connectivity, latency, and packet loss issues. Implement and support core networking technologies including VLANs, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and basic network security controls.
  • Troubleshoot network incidents across LAN/WAN environments, performing root cause analysis and documenting resolutions. Collaborate with cross‑functional IT teams to support network changes, upgrades, and infrastructure projects.
  • Travel to remote locations to lead and perform network installations, independently troubleshoot, and provide status updates to Program personnel.
  • May be required to support critical activities outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed, and any other required tasks by the program.

12+ months — possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.

What you’ll need

Required Qualifications
  • Generally has 3+ years of related experience and may have a post‑secondary degree or training in a related discipline.
  • Requires an IAT Level II 8570‑Compliant Certification such as Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.
  • Must have an active Secret Security Clearance, be a US Citizen, and possess/maintain a valid US passport.
  • Requires a CCNA or JNCIA certification.
  • Proven network engineer with hands‑on mid‑level experience and knowledge of network design, development and testing methodologies.
  • Understanding of the OSI Model, TCP/IP, and routing protocols BGP and OSPF.
  • Network traffic analysis, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Firewall experience – especially Juniper, Fortinet, and Palo Alto.
  • Experience in UDP multicast, SONET, MSPP, VLANs, GRE tunnels, and TCP/IP network designs.
  • Hands‑on experience with multi‑vendor switching routing (Juniper, Cisco), WAN optimizer, TACLANEs, and optical transport equipment.
  • Effective communication skills with excellent writing and presentation abilities using Microsoft Office products, especially PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree with typically 5+ years’ experience in an engineering classification, or a Master’s degree with typically 3+ years’ experience in an engineering classification, or a PhD with experience in an engineering classification.
Preferred Skills
  • Top Secret Clearance.
  • CCNP or JNCIP Certification, including Foundation, NSX, vSAN, and Aria.
  • Experience with network automation using Ansible.
  • Understanding of standard DOD security practices such as STIG compliance and system accreditation implementation efforts.
  • Prior C2

    BMC experience.
