Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will support a highly motivated engineering team in defining, designing, implementing, documenting, testing, and sustaining Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) security solutions on National Security Systems in a DoD environment. The role uses Model-Based Systems Engineering tools such as the Cameo suite, and follows NIST standards and guidelines including NIST SP 800-207, NIST SP 800-160 vol2 rev1, DoD 5200.39, and NSA Cybersecurity Technical Report Zero Trust Implementation Guideline.
EssentialFunctions
- Take technical ownership leading the build and modeling of cybersecurity requirements in a digital engineering solution for MBSE with tools like Cameo Suite, using standardized modeling languages and frameworks such as UML, SysML, and UAF, and mentor the engineering team to improve velocity and quality.
- Provide positive mission impact by shaping architecture around Zero-Trust principles, securing perimeter‑less digital environments, and applying guidance from NIST and NSA.
- Communicate requirements, designs, implementation strategies, concepts of operation, and technical baselines to engineering and customer leadership and systems engineering technical advisors.
- This position is performed 100% onsite and cannot be performed remotely.
- Up to 25% travel is possible.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience;
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. Degree must be in computer science or engineering (systems, computer, electrical, or software) with relevant MBSE digital engineering and/or ZTA experience. - Must have active DOD Secret security clearance; TS/SCI highly desired.
- Ability to obtain a DoD‑recognized baseline security certification (IASAE 2 or 3, e.g., CISSP, CSSLP, SecX, ISSEP, ISSAP) within 6 months of hire.
- System Security Engineer capabilities:
Knowledge and proficiency with NIST SP 800-160, DoD 5200.39, DoD 5200.47E, DODI 5000.83, and NIST 800-37 for achieving security authorization of supported systems and NSA High Assurance products and SERD requirements. - RMF security compliance engineering: RMF strategies for new technology initiatives (hardware, software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti‑virus systems, and software deployment tools); expertise with IaaS, PaaS, SaaS cloud implementations; secure software development.
Salary ranges:
In California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, Greater D.C., Denver, or NYC: $127,500 - $236,500. In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, Cleveland Ohio, and Vermont: $110,500 - $205,500. In addition, L3
