ASRC Federal System Solutions, LLC (AFSS), a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, systems integration, engineering, and program management services supporting mission-critical national security and defense programs.
AFSS is seeking a Principal Scrum Master to support the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC2) Program in Colorado Springs, Colorado. DARC is a next-generation ground-based radar capability supporting Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and the detection, tracking, identification, and characterization of objects in deep space.
The selected candidate will support Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) responsible for the development and delivery of computer and radar system capabilities. Working closely with IPT leadership, Product Owners, systems engineering, software, hardware, integration, and test teams, the Principal Scrum Master will lead Agile processes and help drive efficient, predictable execution of complex system development and product delivery activities.
This position requires a strong understanding of Agile principles and practices and demonstrated experience applying those principles within multidisciplinary engineering environments involving both software and hardware configuration items.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Principal Scrum Master supporting multidisciplinary DARC2 Integrated Product Teams responsible for computer and radar system product development and delivery.
- Lead and facilitate Agile ceremonies, including daily standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and other planning events.
- Manage and maintain Jira boards, workflows, product backlogs, sprint information, dashboards, and supporting Agile documentation.
- Partner with IPT leads and Product Owners to establish priorities, plan work, manage dependencies, and track progress toward program objectives and product deliveries.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate Program Increment (PI) planning, sprint planning, and other Agile planning activities.
- Develop, maintain, analyze, and communicate team performance metrics, including velocity, burn-down/burn-up data, backlog health, and other measures used to assess execution and identify risks.
- Identify and facilitate resolution of impediments affecting team performance, schedule, and product delivery.
- Coordinate across engineering disciplines and IPTs to identify and manage dependencies supporting integrated system development and delivery.
- Provide Agile coaching and guidance to team members, Product Owners, and technical leadership on Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and continuous improvement practices.
- Promote consistent application of Agile processes while adapting practices to the needs of complex hardware, software, and systems engineering teams.
- Facilitate coordination among systems engineering, software engineering, hardware engineering, integration, test, configuration management, and program management organizations.
- Assist IPT leadership in identifying schedule risks, resource constraints, technical dependencies, and other issues affecting program execution.
- Support continuous process improvement initiatives and help mature Agile execution across the DARC2 engineering organization.
- Promote transparency, accountability, collaboration, and effective communication across multidisciplinary teams.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or another related discipline with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience;
Master's degree with three (3) years of relevant experience; or PhD with one (1) year of relevant experience. - Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance required at the time of application, current and within scope.
