Spec Pro Sustainment and Environmental (SSE) is seeking a Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst to support the 50th Civil Engineer Squadron (50 CES) at Schriever Space Force Base (SSFB), Colorado.
The GIS Analyst will provide geospatial analysis, mapping, and data management support for installation facilities and infrastructure. The position will support the development, maintenance, and management of GIS databases, applications, maps, and other geospatial products used for installation planning, engineering, construction, emergency response, and asset management.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Develop, maintain, and support geospatial databases, applications, and tools used for architectural, engineering, and installation management activities.
- Create and revise maps, charts, and other cartographic products supporting mission and installation requirements.
- Update and maintain CADD/GIS databases, including utilities, floor plans, real property, and other installation infrastructure information.
- Investigate and evaluate source materials, including aerial imagery and other geospatial data sources.
- Draft, digitize, edit, and review new or revised geospatial data for inclusion in the enterprise GIS.
- Use computerized GIS systems to display and analyze geographic data supporting geology, ecology, land use, demographics, transportation, and other installation planning requirements.
- Perform quality-control reviews of geospatial data to ensure compliance with applicable data standards.
- Support the production, management, archival, and maintenance of digital geospatial data and products.
- Update and coordinate CADD/GIS maps, real estate information, and engineering data.
- Provide technical recommendations regarding CADD/GIS tools, techniques, and solutions to geospatial data requirements.
- Produce custom maps and cartographic products in response to mission requirements.
- Support installation organizations, including Civil Engineering, Fire Department, Security Forces, and Emergency/Disaster Preparedness, through development and maintenance of geospatial products and mapping systems.
- Provide technical support and instruction to users regarding GIS tools and facility management procedures.
- Review existing facility management systems and provide recommendations regarding geospatial and engineering procedures.
- Applicants must have U.S. citizenship – required.
- Applicant must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check w/Inquiries (NACI) – required.
- Extensive knowledge of geospatial concepts, theories, principles, and practices.
- Basic understanding of cartography, remote sensing, and scientific data visualization.
- Knowledge of digital geospatial data production, management, archival, and maintenance processes.
- Knowledge of applicable geospatial data standards, including Spatial Data Transfer Standard (SDS) and Federal Geographic Data Committee standards.
- Ability to create, edit, analyze, and perform quality-control reviews of geospatial data.
- Skill in developing and implementing mapping systems supporting installation organizations and mission requirements.
- Ability to produce accurate maps, charts, and other cartographic products.
- Ability to review facility management systems and provide technical instruction on engineering and geospatial procedures.
- Strong analytical, organizational, technical documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required installation and restricted-area access.
Candidates must meet one of the following minimum qualification paths:
- Associate’s degree in Science; OR
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a technical field.
Candidates must also possess extensive knowledge of geospatial concepts, theories, principles, and practices, including a basic understanding of cartography, remote sensing, and scientific data visualization.
- Knowledge of digital geospatial processes and products, including data production, management, archival, and maintenance processing in accordance with applicable standards.
