Description of Duties:As the Program Deputy Engineer (PDE) for the Next Generation Environment (NGE), you will serve as a principal technical authority and visionary leader for the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. In this high-impact role, you will drive the design, integration, and delivery of the digital infrastructure foundation enabling a secure, connected, and integrated ecosystem for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
The PDE partners closely with senior civilian and contractor stakeholders to translate complex capabilities into a Unified Digital Ecosystem-bridging hybrid cloud, enterprise networks, identity, cybersecurity, automation, and modeling and simulation (M&S). You will establish engineering governance, champion innovation, and mentor the next generation of technical leaders.
Strategic NGE Technical Leadership:- Develop and maintain the long-term technical vision and multi-year engineering roadmaps for NGE, aligning architectural runway with MDA mission requirements.
- Act as the primary technical integrator across hybrid cloud, enterprise networks, Zero Trust cybersecurity, Dev Sec Ops , and modeling/simulation (M&S) domains.
- Drive the adoption of digital engineering principles, leveraging Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to establish authoritative data sources of truth and streamline capability delivery.
Collaboration:
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to senior MDA leadership and civilian stakeholders, translating highly complex infrastructure and platform engineering concepts into actionable business and mission decisions.
- Define, govern, and enforce rigorous systems engineering and architectural standards, delegating execution to domain-specific engineering leads while maintaining overall technical integration.
- Partner with PMO and engineering leads to forecast Work Packages (WPs), resolve technical or organizational resource conflicts, and streamline technical talent pipelines.
- Lead R&D initiatives to evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., Infrastructure-as-Code, API-driven architectures, observability platforms) and drive a culture of continuous Dev Sec Ops automation.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture by mentoring senior engineering staff, technical leads, and Control Account Managers (CAMs) to cultivate future mission leaders.
- Must have 12 , or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
- May be reduced with completion of advanced education
- Must have 10 , or more, years of progressive experience in engineering or IT
- Must have 3 , or more, years in a senior strategic or architectural leadership role
- Must have at least 3 years of experience in orchestrating and executing planning events with key stakeholders, to include Government senior leadership.
- Must have proven experience developing and implementing a multi-year technology strategy and roadmap for a large-scale enterprise.
- Must have experience with DoD acquisition processes and long-range strategic planning.
- Must have a current DoW IAT Level 2 or higher certification.
- Must have demonstrated experience in Agile Methodologies within the MDA.
- Must have an active DoW Top Secret Security Clearance
