The Director of Practice Administration plays a vital role in ensuring that our attorneys and staff deliver consistent, high-quality service while meeting firm productivity, expansion, and revenue goals. This position is responsible for executing and maintaining firm-wide operational processes, supporting attorney productivity through effective administration, and ensuring alignment with Modern Family Law’s mission to make exceptional legal representation accessible and client-focused.

This role is remote, but the Director of Practice Administration must reside in California, Colorado, Georgia, Texas, or Washington State.
- Execute and maintain firm-approved operational processes across all offices.
- Ensure compliance with firm standards, policies, and procedures in all day-to-day administrative operations.
- Ensure all firm policies and procedures are documented and organized into a usable format for the teams.
- Coordinate closely with Managing Attorneys (MAs) and Operations Leadership to ensure smooth execution of firm initiatives.
- Monitor, drive and report on operational performance, including attorney utilization, billable hours, client hiring goals/performance, and caseload allocation.
- Identify operational obstacles and work collaboratively cross‑functionally to implement timely, practical solutions within existing frameworks.
- In conjunction with firm leadership, develop and implement expansion project plan templates, cross collaborating with relevant departments for timely opening of expansion sites.
- Drive and optimize firm productivity by ensuring consistent adherence to timekeeping, billing, and client service expectations.
- Track and report on key performance metrics, including utilization rates, billable-hour targets, caseload allocation, and client hiring.
- Support MA practice teams in achieving financial and performance goals through mentorship, strategic planning, workload balancing, and administrative follow‑through.
- Reinforce accountability and transparency through regular communication and performance monitoring.
- Ensure & encourage the deployment of operational structure to optimize on‑ramp billers to meet billable goals set by the firm.
- Develop and implement performance expectations for new locations.
- Provide administrative oversight to ensure efficient case management, scheduling, and workflow execution.
- Coordinate staffing and resource allocation across multiple offices to optimize performance and client service.
- Serve as the operational link between attorneys, staff, and leadership to ensure alignment and continuity.
- Maintain a culture of proactive communication and responsiveness that supports both internal teams and client needs.
- Partner with Managing Attorneys to manage and resolve client service concerns from an operational perspective, ensuring issues are addressed efficiently and in alignment with firm standards.
- Support firm billing processes by ensuring timely and accurate time entry, invoicing, and compliance with billing procedures.
- Collaborate with Finance and Leadership on tracking revenue metrics (billable hour attainment), client hire goals, and budget adherence.
- Provide reporting and insights to support the evaluation of financial and operational performance at the practice level.
- Lead and mentor practice administrators, practice‑level operations, paralegal managers, and support staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
