Overview
Join a small team of aXcess and CAMA workers engaged in transformational community development among migrants coming from some of the least-reached people groups of Indonesia. Build meaningful, impactful relationships through creative holistic development projects while planting context-fitted fellowships. Work to serve migrant communities through creation care, fitness, agriculture, farming, English, small business, or other creative initiatives.

- Live in a community of the majority faith and build relationships that lead to the demonstration and proclamation of the gospel

- Start creative and innovative initiatives
- Possibly partner with the local church and C&MA Bible schools to increase people’s passion and motivation for outreach, as well as work with a large national church that is not yet actively engaged in outreach to migrants from the majority faith living among them
- A recognized bachelor’s degree
- Completion of World Perspectives Mission Course or other comparable mission course
- Completion of Alliance Polity course
- A minimum Modern Language Aptitude Test (MLAT) score of 40 or higher
- Experience in community development and discipleship
- Commitment and calling to long-term overseas ministry
- Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., community development, adult education, international economic development, public health)
- Ability to identify, equip, and train local church planters
- Training in ministry among majority religion (ask for more details)
- Ability to articulate personal conversion and call to ministry
- Ability to articulate the gospel to a seeker
- Demonstrated heart for the poor and marginalized (Micah 6:8)
- Theological alignment with The Alliance
- Demonstrated flexibility and grace in all aspects of life

Summer/fall 2027. Once appointed and fundraising and other qualifications are met, the appointee is required to attend a cross-cultural and language-acquisition program and pre-field orientation prior to deploying.
General InformationIndonesia is a large archipelago made up of over 17,000 islands and 583 languages with a total population of over 200 million. About 30 percent of the population lives below the poverty line. The Alliance first entered Indonesia in 1929. The national church has grown and is now self-sustaining. It has multiple Bible schools across the nation where pastors and teachers are trained for ministry and how to reach the lost.
You will live in Papua, the furthest Eastern island of Indonesia working among migrants from many of Indonesia’s unreached people groups.

Language ExpectationsLanguage is an essential part of ministry. Those who do not know the language will attend language study for one year. The goal will be to speak, read, and write the language at a functional level in order to mentor, teach, and train others. The first year of service will be spent in full-time language study at one of a number of possible language schools.
HealthConsiderations
Well-trained doctors and medicines are generally available, though serious illnesses or medical emergencies are best handled in Jakarta, Malaysia, or Singapore. Mission Aviation Fellowship flights are available if needed.
Expectations For SpouseSpousal roles vary based on the spouse’s gifts, training, and abilities, as well as the needs of the team. It is expected that both spouses will be meaningfully involved in meeting team objectives, depending on the nature of family roles, children’s needs, etc.
