Health Maintenance Activity Attendant
The Health Maintenance Activity Attendant performs assigned health maintenance functions for clients in their homes under the direction of qualified Agency personnel. The position reports to the Operations Manager/IHSS Clinical Program Manager.
Responsibilities- Adhere to Agency policies and procedures, and promote client rights.
- Perform health maintenance activities per the plan of care and Agency policy, including skin care, ambulation, bathing, dressing, feeding, hair care, mouth care, nail care, positioning, shaving, toileting, transfers, medication management, protective oversight, bowel/bladder care, and respiratory care.
- Minor attendants may not operate floor‑based, ceiling‑mounted, or sit‑to‑stand powered lifting devices.
- Execute household services essential to care as assigned.
- Complete service notes accurately and in a timely manner according to Agency policy.
- Report changes in the client’s condition and needs to the supervisor.
- Participate in required orientation, training, competency, and in‑service programs per Agency policy.
- Participate in supervisory visits as directed.
- Coordinate client care as required.
- Demonstrate competency in caring for the client to satisfaction.
- Maintain a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick and elderly.
- Follow written and verbal directions; read and write competently.
- Show maturity and the ability to deal effectively with job demands.
- Ability to lift, pull, push, and carry heavy weight; bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and reach.
- Minimum age: 16 years.
- Must not represent themselves as a licensed nurse, certified nurse’s aide, licensed practical or professional nurse, registered nurse, or registered professional nurse.
- Must not have had a nurse or certified nurse aide license suspended, revoked, or denied.
- No specific education or certification required beyond the restrictions noted above.
