Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner – Trauma and Acute Care Surgery

UCHealth Medical Group and the Trauma & Acute Care Surgery team, located in Colorado Springs, CO, are seeking a full‑time Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join an 18‑surgeon, 25‑APP team focused on high‑quality surgical care.

  • The group is collaborative and cohesive.
  • Provides the best surgical care in the region.
  • Full‑time position with work‑life balance.
  • 24/7 service with nights, holidays, and weekend shift coverage required.
  • No call required.
  • Epic EMR is utilized system-wide.
Requirements for Physician Assistants
  • Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
  • Unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in Colorado.
  • Physician Assistant Certification (PA‑C) issued by NCCPA, required at hire and must be maintained.
  • Unrestricted DEA permit to prescribe all medications commonly prescribed.
  • Eligible to provide reimbursable services and maintain provider status with Medicare and Medicaid.
  • No sanctions or exclusions from HHS/OIG or GSA’s List of Parties Excluded from Federal Programs.
  • Unrestricted medical staff membership with appropriate practice privileges.
  • Prescriptive authority as approved in the medical staff privileging process.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or American Red Cross.
Requirements for Nurse Practitioners
  • Full or provisional prescriptive authority eligibility; must apply for prescriptive authority upon hire.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing and graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANCC or AANPCB) issued and maintained throughout employment.
  • Unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license from the State Board of Nursing or compact privileges under the Multi‑State Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Unrestricted medical staff membership with appropriate practice privileges.
  • Unrestricted DEA permit to prescribe all medications commonly prescribed.
  • Eligible to provide reimbursable services and maintain provider status with Medicare and Medicaid.
  • No sanctions or exclusions from HHS/OIG or GSA’s List of Parties Excluded from Federal Programs.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or American Red Cross.
Exceptional Benefits
  • Annual salary range: $124,384 – $163,072, based on relevant experience.
  • Annual Quality Value Incentive Plan (QVIP) of up to $10,000.
