The Education Nurse Manager supports the coordination and delivery of clinical education and training programs across the organization, including CNA training support, staff education, and CPR certification. This role focuses on implementing established education programs, maintaining compliance, and supporting staff competency development under the direction of nursing and operational leadership.
Performance Expectations for All Employees- Support implementation of the CNA training program in alignment with state requirements.
- Coordinate class schedules, student documentation, and training logistics.
- Assist with skills training and clinical instruction as needed.
- Maintain required records for compliance and audits.
- Communicate with leadership regarding program needs and outcomes.
- In conjunction with Director of Nursing or ADON, designs and implements structured onboarding programs that prepare RN, LPN, CNA, and caregiver staff to safely manage medically complex patients in the home setting, including hands‑on training and competency validation for ventilators, tracheostomy care, G‑tube management, seizure disorders, and oxygen therapy.
- Develop and deliver targeted in‑services focused on advanced pediatric and adult home care skills, including ventilator troubleshooting, trach emergencies (decannulation, mucus plugging), enteral feeding complications, seizure response protocols, and recognition of subtle changes in patient condition.
- Reinforce clinical policies, procedures, and standards with an emphasis on independent clinical decision‑making in the home, ensuring staff can respond appropriately without immediate on‑site clinical support.
- Incorporate simulation‑based training and case‑based learning to strengthen critical thinking, emergency response, and confidence in managing high‑risk situations in non‑institutional environments.
- Utilize audits, incident reports, hospitalizations, and caregiver feedback to identify high‑acuity skill gaps, and implement focused retraining plans to improve clinical performance and reduce risk.
- Ensure ongoing competency validation and annual skills assessments for high‑acuity care, including return demonstrations and scenario‑based evaluations for vents, trachs, G‑tubes, and seizure management.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership and case management to align training with patient‑specific care needs, ensuring staff are fully prepared prior to assignment to high‑acuity cases.
- Provide CPR/BLS training and recertification for staff.
- Track and monitor certification compliance.
- Maintain accurate and audit‑ready training records.
- Assist with annual competencies and skills validations for clinical staff.
