We are seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and experienced psychiatric nurse practitioner to join our behavioral health team. In this role, you will provide high-quality mental health care to patients across the lifespan, supporting accurate assessment, evidence-based treatment, and ongoing medication management. The ideal candidate is dedicated to improving patient outcomes, communicating clearly with patients and care teams, and delivering care with professionalism and empathy.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including history taking, mental status examinations, and risk assessments.
- Diagnose and treat a range of mental health conditions in accordance with evidence-based practice and organizational protocols.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, including monitoring response, side effects, and adherence.
- Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medication use, and follow-up care.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, nurses, social workers, and other members of the care team to coordinate treatment.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
- Respond appropriately to behavioral health crises and support safety planning when needed.
- Refer patients to higher levels of care or specialty services when clinically indicated.
- Stay current with best practices, clinical guidelines, and regulatory requirements in psychiatric care.
- Master’s or doctoral degree in nursing with an advanced practice psychiatric specialty.
- Current licensure as a nurse practitioner and applicable prescriptive authority.
- Certification in psychiatric-mental health nursing practice or eligibility consistent with role requirements.
- Clinical experience in behavioral health, psychiatry, or related settings preferred.
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and psychopharmacology.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient engagement skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to delivering respectful, culturally responsive, and patient-centered care.
- Experience caring for diverse patient populations in outpatient, inpatient, or community-based settings.
- Comfort working with patients experiencing acute symptoms, chronic conditions, or complex psychosocial needs.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care, substance use treatment, and crisis intervention.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage a dynamic caseload while maintaining a high standard of care.
