Nurse Practitioner – Family Practice must have and meet the following:

  • Degree/Education:
    Successfully completed Master of Science in Nursing degree program with specialization as a family nurse practitioner accredited by a national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education
  • Certification:
    Certified in the specialty required by the TO as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, American Nurses Association, National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Specialties)
  • Experience:
    Have actively practiced as a Family Medicine – Nurse Practitioner for 24 months within the last 36 months, and are able to demonstrate current clinical competency. Current clinical competency is verifiable by clinical activity logs submitted by the previous medical institutions
  • Licensure/Registration:
    Must possess and maintain an active, current, valid and unrestricted RN license as well being licensed to the Advanced Practice level IAW the US jurisdiction (fifty States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands) requirements of their currently held RN license to practice independently within the defined scope of practice for their specialty.

Nurse Practitioner – Family Practice Core Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive Nurse Practitioner services within the scope of practice and privileges granted by the MTF.
  • Perform patient evaluations, screenings, physical examinations, and medical care for routine, acute, and chronic conditions.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage illnesses, injuries, and health concerns using clinical guidelines and approved protocols.
  • Provide preventive care, health maintenance, immunizations, and patient wellness education.
  • Develop treatment plans and counsel patients on healthy behaviors and self-care strategies.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to coordinate effective patient care and communicate treatment plans.
  • Provide clinical guidance, training, and evidence-based education to staff members.
  • Participate in staff meetings, case discussions, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Apply infection control practices, recognize isolation requirements, and maintain universal precautions during patient care.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff to support improved health outcomes and organizational goals.
