Position OverviewThe Retail Operations Lead is a hands‑on leadership position responsible for helping ensure the store runs efficiently and that employees remain productive, organized, and focused throughout each shift.
This position functions similarly to an Assistant Manager or Shift Leader
. While employees will not formally report directly to the Retail Operations Lead, this person will be expected to take a leadership role on the sales floor, delegate tasks and responsibilities, follow up with employees, identify what needs to be done, and ensure work is completed correctly and on time.
We are specifically looking for someone who already has experience managing and leading employees
. The ideal candidate is comfortable giving direction, holding coworkers accountable, making decisions, solving problems, and stepping in wherever needed.
This is not simply a senior retail associate position. The Retail Operations Lead is expected to take ownership of the store's day-to-day execution and help management ensure that expectations are being met.
This position is initially a seasonal full-time role from October through March
, with the possibility of transitioning into a full-time, year-round position based on individual performance and company needs.
- Take a leadership role during assigned shifts and help coordinate the activities of employees working throughout the store.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities based on store priorities, customer traffic, staffing levels, and operational needs.
- Clearly communicate expectations and deadlines to staff.
- Follow up on delegated work to ensure tasks are completed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Keep employees focused and productive during slower periods rather than waiting for management to assign every task.
- Identify unfinished work, operational issues, or areas requiring attention and take initiative to address them.
- Redirect employees when priorities change or when staff are not staying on task.
- Help reinforce company policies, procedures, customer service standards, and workplace expectations.
- Communicate employee performance concerns, recurring issues, or operational problems to management.
- Serve as a dependable point of leadership when senior management is unavailable or focused on the business.
- Help oversee the day-to-day operation of the retail floor.
- Ensure opening, closing, cleaning, stocking, merchandising, and operational tasks are completed.
- Maintain an organized, professional, and customer-ready sales floor.
- Help coordinate workflow between retail sales, rentals, service, inventory, and other areas of the store.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and help develop practical solutions.
- Ensure employees are following established procedures for transactions, inventory, rentals, customer pickups, returns, and other store processes.
- Assist management with implementing new procedures and ensuring employees understand and follow them.
- Perform opening and/or closing responsibilities as assigned.
- Lead by example in providing knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient customer service.
- Assist employees with difficult customer situations, questions, or transactions.
- Help resolve customer concerns before they require escalation to senior management.
- Ensure customers are acknowledged and assisted promptly, particularly during high-volume periods.
- Help maintain an approachable, welcoming, and professional store environment.
- Help maintain accurate and organized inventory throughout the store.
