Duties Help
* You will perform functions in areas of day-to-day security activities, security assessments and corrective actions, personnel security actions and preparation of security clearance-related correspondence.
* You will perform functions in the areas of maintenance of personnel security clearance files, accountability of all incoming and outgoing classified material, budget tracking, equipment inventory, and operation of security sensors and equipment.
* You will provide physical protection of all classified material which consists of widely varied media subject to stringent control and protection requirements.
* You will review National level security policies originated by the DoD, DoN, and other agencies for the purpose of recommending modifications or changes to improve USNO security policies, instructions, and procedures.
* You will initiate and track personnel security background investigation actions.
* You will prepare security documentation and training required for international travel authorizations and orders.
* You will serve as visitor control officer for USNO's Alternate Master Clock Facility site.
* You will perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Help Conditions of employment

* Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
* Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
* Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
* This is a bargaining unit position.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance
* Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* This position is part of the Department of Defense (DoD) Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) certification program.
* The selectee is required to obtain certification within two years of placement in the position and maintain the certification as long as they remain in the position.
* Incumbent must be physically capable of pulling and pushing heavy carts loaded with up to 200 pounds of material and of lifting packages up to 25 pounds.
* You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment. Qualifications To qualify for a GS-09, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
* Experience utilizing principles, concepts, policies, and practices of security administration including DCID 6/4 (personal security), DCID 6/3 (AIS security), and DCID 1/21 (physical security).
