Cen Core is seeking an Access Control Officer (ACO) to support day-to-day access control operations at a cleared data center construction site in Colorado Springs, CO. This role supports the secure movement of personnel, vehicles, visitors, vendors, deliveries, and materials in accordance with approved security procedures, post orders, and contract requirements.
The ACO operates under the direction of security leadership to help maintain a controlled, compliant, and auditable security posture throughout construction activities. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, professional under pressure, and committed to enforcing access control standards in a secure environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform access control duties at designated entry and exit points in accordance with approved security policies, procedures, and post orders.
- Verify identification, credentials, clearances, and access authorizations for personnel, vehicles, visitors, vendors, contractors, and deliveries.
- Process visitors, contractors, and vendors in compliance with site access procedures.
- Conduct inspections of vehicles, bags, materials, and other items as required to help prevent unauthorized items from entering secure areas.
- Operate access control systems, badging systems, handheld screening devices, and related security equipment.
- Maintain accurate access control logs, badge records, reports, and other required documentation.
- Immediately report security incidents, discrepancies, prohibited items, or access control violations to security leadership.
- Support investigations, incident response, and corrective actions related to access control events.
- Comply with classified handling requirements and safeguard sensitive and classified information at all times.
- Participate in required training, briefings, and onboarding related to site access control procedures and systems.
- Support a controlled, compliant, and professional security posture throughout construction activities.
- Active Secret clearance required.
- Must be able to provide a valid U.S. Passport Book or Passport Card, if required for assignment or travel.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience as an Access Control Officer, security officer, screening officer, or in a related physical security role.
- Knowledge of access control systems, physical security protocols, screening procedures, and related security technologies.
- Ability to stand and conduct screening activities with handheld detectors or devices for extended periods, up to 12 hours with scheduled breaks.
- Ability to conduct routine foot patrols indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including patrols that may take up to 2 hours during an 8- to 12-hour shift.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise security procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact professionally with personnel, visitors, vendors, and clients.
- Ability to enforce standard operating procedures and prevent prohibited items or materials from entering secure facilities.
- Ability to work independently, make sound decisions under pressure, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and holdover shifts when required to maintain minimum staffing levels.
- Strong ethics, integrity, and commitment to maintaining a secure and confidential environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment.
- Additional relevant security certifications or training.
- Experience supporting cleared construction sites, secure facilities, data centers, or government contract environments.
- Experience using badging systems, access control systems, visitor management systems, handheld screening devices, or related security equipment.
- Familiarity with post orders, prohibited item controls, incident reporting, and access control documentation.

Physical Requirements
- Position is performed on-site at a cleared data center construction environment in Colorado Springs, CO.
- Work may include indoor and outdoor posts, entry and exit control points, screening areas, and routine patrol routes.
- Must be able to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended or holdover shifts as required.
- Must be able to walk 3 to 5 miles during a shift.
- Must be able to stand for 60 minutes at a time and perform prolonged standing throughout the shift.
