Provides primary radio and telephone communications between Security Department personnel and those requesting assistance from the district Security Department; provides emergency and non-emergency radio dispatching, telephone answering, and security systems monitoring services.
Incumbent must meet all requirements of local, state, and federal regulations for controlled substance testing including pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug and alcohol testing.

Attains proficient or higher evaluations on established Performance Standards
Attends any training as directed by the Executive Director for Security or designee of the department
Creates written and/or digital documentation on reported incidents
Demonstrates understanding of all procedures regarding the use of the department radio systems
Demonstrates understanding of district emergency responses and notification protocols
Develops close interaction and communication with all members of the Security Department
Dispatches security personnel to locations throughout the district to provide for the safety and security of District 20 students, staff, and physical assets
Maintains a constant awareness of the location, welfare, and activities of security personnel
Maintains familiarity with locations of all district properties and the streets of Colorado Springs
Monitors all security systems including radio, alarms, and surveillance cameras; analyzes data received in order to effectively dispatch security personnel to locations of trouble
Observes all applicable FCC regulations pertaining to two-way radio communications
Performs emergency command center communications duties in the event of major incidents, accidents, and other emergencies that occur in the district or the city as needed
Prepares, maintains, and distributes all required daily occurrence logs, reports, and other records and documentation accurately and as directed
Prioritizes and organizes all calls for service according to the nature and type of assistance requested or required
Provides a high level of positive public relations and interaction with members of the district, city emergency personnel, community, and others
Receives emergency and non-emergency information regarding requests for assistance from schools or other district locations and transmits to security personnel
Transfers calls and/or relays information received to appropriate persons or agencies, including the police, fire, ambulance, towing services, or other departments of the district
Ability to accurately type 20-35 words per minute utilizing proper spelling and grammar
Ability to apply independent thinking to decision-making
Ability to continually build knowledge of all applicable laws and regulations concerning school safety
Ability to create, access, input, retrieve, and manipulate information in various software systems
Ability to develop training plans and instruct large groups effectively
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, administrators, departments, other agencies, and the general public
Ability to greet and interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to manage simultaneous demands and set clear priorities
Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions
Ability to use tact and calm persuasion while gathering complete information from callers regarding reported incidents
